I like new computers

Kelly has allowed me to order a new computer for some serious game playing. So here are the specs:
?2 Maxtor 45GB 7200RPM in RAID 0
?2 256MB Corsair XMS (eXtreme Memory Speed Series) PC3200 Cas2 With Heat Spreader
?Asus A7N8X Deluxe nForce2 motherboard with 2 10/100 NICs, 6 USB 2.0, 2 Firewire, and great 6.1 channel audio
?AMD Athlon XP 2500+ (1.83GHz) Barton 333 FSB
?Blue Chieftec Server Case with acrylic window
?Geforce 4 Ti4600 video card

Here is a pic of the new case

Then 5 LED fans and a sweet copper heatsink that you have to mount a 80mm fan too.

So maybe now I can play Enter the Matrix, and UT2K3 with some decnet frame rates. The bad thing is because I spent quite a bit on the new PC, I can’t afford a new LCD monitor. So for going to LAN parties or anything I will have to lug the 21 inch CRT around (ooo my aching O ring).

I was having a little trouble at first getting Newegg.Com to accept my credit card because Kelly and I went and paid for my tuition, then trying to charge another 500 dollars to the card, the credit card company freaked out and froze my card. So I had to call the credit card company and have them put through the charge. So all is good now. And hopefully I will have my parts by Tuesday. The Geforce card I’m buying through a friend of Dallas’s who lives here in town. I’m gonna ask Dallas if he can unlock my processor for me so maybe I can squeeze 2800+ speeds out of my 2500+.

I currently have one 45 GB hard drive that I bought when I built my last computer, and it just so happens that Jim bought the exact same drive, so I’m gonna swap him one of my 40 GB drives for his 45 GB so I can run a RAID 0 setup, so I didn’t have to drop any cash on hard drives. I’m not sure the board that I have has on-board RAID or not, but I do have an ATA-100 RAID card that I can throw in there.

Not much else going on today, except that it is unbearably hot in here. Its probably 82 degrees in here right now, but its nice and cool outside, I wonder if its all the computer that I have on in here…… Ya think?

Back at it…

We finally made it back to the gym today. It killed us and we had to leave after 30 minutes. Man we shouldn’t punish ourselves like this. Tomorrow is leg day since we haven’t done that in over a week. We also tanned and I’m starting to get a little more color on me.

After working out we went to Target to pick up a few movies. We bought Liar Liar, Jerry Maguire, and A Guy Thing. Not bad for $40 and A Guy Thing came with a ticket for Legally Blonde: Red, White, and Blonde. The ticket is up a $12 value but can only be used on one ticket. Damn! I also received in the mail today after 1 1/2 weeks, Jawbreaker and Pilates for Dummies. I’m watching Jawbreaker right now and we’ve already watched Liar Liar earlier tonight.

Casey got one of his school books in the mail today and has one more to go. I’ve been e-maililng back and forth with the finanical aid office at UCCS and the reason my aid is delayed is because our estimated income for education has changed now that Casey is in school. This is a good thing. Free money for me! I don’t think I can get grants but maybe some loans where the government pays off the interest. I should find out pretty soon if I’ll be able to go to UCCS during the summer semester.

Old Navy had some awesome sales going on yesterday. They had cute little terry cloth workout shorts on sale for $10 each. Flip flops 2/$5. The only downside to their sale is that the bikini I paid $25 for 2 months ago is now $10. Oh, sad. 🙁 They also had pretty decent sales racks. We stopped into American Eagle and they were having pretty great sales too. I probably would have bought more if I would have known how great the sales were. At least I got some new discounted clothes! 🙂

Just found out that Randi, Chris, and Carlee should be stopping back through on their way home for 2 or 3 days!!!!!

Burp!

Happy Anniversay to US

Yep its our second anniversary, we did a little shopping this afternoon, we picked up American Psycho, and Friends Season 3 on DVD. Plus some clothes from Old Navy, and American Eagle. For dinner I made Chicken Parmesan, not a quck meal by any means. It turned out pretty damn good, plus we picked up a couple of bottles of wine from the Powers Liquor Mart, which has great prices if you have never been there.

I was playing Warcraft 3 for most of the day today, trying to beat it again in single player mode. I’m hoping to hook up with Dallas some time this week for some Battle.Net action, maybe some PVP or 2 vs. the Computer.

I was discussing with Nicole about scoring a hosting service through ICDSoft.Com.

There really isn’t much else going on right now. We spent most of the weekend hanging out with Randi, Chris, and Dallas. Not much else going on.

Do we suck or what?

Busy Week

It has been a very busy week. Yesterday Randi woke me up at like 9:30 asking if I wanted to go to the mall with her and shop and have lunch. I told her that I did and that Casey was going to come too so he could hang out with Chris and Dallas. Well we got there and we spent about 3 hours looking for the keys to Chris’ mom’s van that Carlee’s carseat was in. We turned Cassie & Dallas’ house upside down and could not find them. Finally, Casey, Chris, and Dallas went to the Dodge dealership to get a new key. Meanwhile Randi, Carlee and I went to Old Navy. Randi picked up a cute shorts outfit for Carlee and I picked up a pair of baby blue terry cloth shorts for working out. We met Casey and Chris back at Randi’s parents house. We hung out and talked for a little bit and then headed off to the Golden Coral, where Randi’s dad treated us to dinner. Lucky us. The food was not so good. I ate as many strawberries and as much dessert as I could have. I’ll hold out for the yummy Vegas buffets. We headed home after dinner instead of playing poker so that Casey could study for a little while.

This morning Casey left early to take his Microsoft test up in Denver. I asked him to lay the phone on the bed in case Randi called. Well, the phone did ring and as soon as I picked it up the person on the other end hung up. I was still so groggy I thought I had hit the wrong button and hung up on them. Well I got up about an hour later and checked caller id and it was Randi. So I called her back and she said she decided after she had already dialed that she didn’t want to wake me up. Oops. I cleaned house this morning and finished up our laundry. Casey called from Denver to say that he passed his test. I guess his studying paid off. I spent most of the afternoon after Casey got back handling stuff educational business. I had to call and e-mail and fill out SO much paperwork. Amongst, the rest of the mail I did get my UCCS acceptance letter. I had to call PPCC too and find out when I was going to be receiving my diploma. The graduation cermeony was about 10 days ago and I hadn’t heard anything. After being transferred to 3 different people, I finally got….voicemail. The chick on the other end was pretty prompt calling back and said I could pick it up on June 6th. She said they don’t mail diplomas because they could get stolen, lost, bent, torn, or any number of things in the mail. Shows a lot of faith with the postal service.

At 5:30 we headed over to Randi’s parents house for Carlee and Ashley’s birthday party. It was a pretty drawn out thing and didn’t end until 10pm but still had a good time at the BBQ. Afterwards, we headed over to my parents house still starving and thirsty. We filled my parents in on everything that’s been going on in the last few days. We have missed 2 days of working out. 🙁 I’m gonna be paying for that one next week.

Now we’re just sitting here catching up on some Howard Stern. They’re finally airing the Miss Buttaface contest. Pretty funny so far with all the hosts being drunk.

Getting up early tomorrow to head out to Dallas & Cassi’s for a BBQ and maybe having Randi and Chris over for dinner.

Free MCP is good for me, part 3!

I don’t believe it. I passed my first Microsoft test. I was scheduled to take 76-210 which was the free test I found on Slick Deals. But when I got to the testing center they weren’t offering 76-210 anymore, so they gave me 70-210 instead. I think Justin said that he had to do 70 questions or so, but I only had 50 questions. I didn’t think I got a single question right, except for one that mentions upgarding the HAL when you install a second processor into an SMP capable mobo. But other then that I thought I screwed the pooch. But at the very end it pops up and Congratulations you Passed. Wooo Hooo. I rule.

Randi’s Here!!!

Randi (my best friend for those of you who don’t know who that is) got into town yesterday afternoon around 3 from Iowa with Chris, Carlee, and Daniel. I was in the tanning bed when she called so I wasn’t able to get to the phone right away. Casey and I finally got to her sister, Cassi’s, house at about 8:30. We had a good time sitting around and talking. When we first got there, Carlee was walking up to us and as I was bending down to take off my shoes she gave me a little hug and kiss. Awww. It was SO sweet. Randi went with her parents up to their mountain porperty today because they were breaking ground on their house that they’re building. Hopefully, we’ll be able to get together tomorrow. She’s going to be having a birthday party for Carlee either tomorrow or Friday. They’re leaving for Utah on Monday so plenty more photo ops. I got quite a few pics last nigth and I’ll post them when I can.

Casey works my ass off at the gym. It’s good cause he tries to encourage me but I am so weak. I feel like I’m gonna collapse especially with the heavy weights. I’m doing pretty good though, or at least I think so. We haven’t been doing as much cardio as I would like (everyday) but we’re getting used to our new workiout routine. Tomorrow my mom has a nail appointment so both her and Jim are skipping out on us. Casey may go and play ultimate if there’s a game going on, otherwise we’ll work legs and abs. The weather was so much nicer today and it was great to be able to wear summer clothes.

After we were done working out, I came home and made dinner. At Casey’s request I was making chimichangas. Now I have this big fear of popping oil cause it always seems to burn me. Well this time was no except, just as I was flipping one of the chimis over, a big oil bubble popped all over the bottom side of my forearm. 🙁 The red splots are now going away after putting aloe vera gel on them. That was the worst part of my day.

Marvin came over to switch vehicles with us this afternoon. There’s a Tim McGraw concert going on at Fort Carson this evening and he needed a car with a sticker on it to take. I guess they were going to be broadcasting live to the CMA’s since Tim McGraw was accepting an award. Faith Hill also joined him for the concert. Unfortunatley, Marvin didn’t get us tickets for us too. I actually would have enjoyed that concert. Oh well, now we just have to wait up until he brings our keys back to us and picks up his truck.

It’s kinda funny that I have a Real World poll up right now and David Broom from New Orleans is singing “Come on be my Baby tonight” on the Dave Chapelle show. What are the odds?

If only I could sell my laptop!

I would give my left testicle for a new 17 inch Powerbook. Or better yet if I could sell my damn laptop, and maybe one of my desktops. I was looking at education discounts from apple, and I can get a 12 inch iBook with 900MHz G3 for $1200. So if I could sell my laptop for 800, I would only have to come up with a little extra. And since I don’t game on my laptop it isn’t a big deal.

I got my first article posted on Slashdot this afternoon. Finally after all my years of trying to get one posted I finally did. Yeah me. And we have the hits to prove it, we probably got a little over 100 extra hits in about 2 hours time since it was posted.

I went early to the gym today in hopes that there was a game of Ultimate going on, but alas they weren’t playing today, and moved it to tomorrow. So I drove back home and waited for Kelly to get ready and Deb to show up. Then we went back to the gym. Jim was already there when we got there, but he didn’t want to life weights with us, he decided to just ride a bike for 30 minutes. I’m gonna get him to start lifting with us sooner or later. Kelly can’t spot me very well when I’m lifting heavy weights, I’m afraid that she won’t be able to lift on of the weights off me in time before my last breath escapes me. 🙂

June 3rd

Oops. I meant to put for my Real World post that it premiers on Tuesday, June 3rd at 8pm. Nothing much is on tv right now, since the season finales have started. I think Smallville’s will be tomorrow night but am not certain.

A little house cleaning.

As some of you may have noticed I did a little reorganization of the blocks on the webpage. Kelly had made the Real World poll inside her post but since most people don’t actually click the Read More links on the posts, I figured that it wouldn’t get any hits. Also since most people only read the first/ most recent post people don’t scroll down to get to the Poll in its old position. So I moved stuff around.

I was once again cleaning out my PVR drive last night and came across this. Micheal Buffer was on Howard Stern when the show was at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, so I ripped this little soundbite from the show. I dribbled down my leg when I heard it the fist time, super funny shit.

I was reading the SpyMac Classifieds this morning, trying to find a good deal on a Powerbook or an iBook. Then I was looking on EBay to see how much my current laptop is going for. The most I saw it was $900 but it didn’t have some of the original parts. If I could sell my laptop for $1000 dollars including 802.11b Wi-Fi card i would be supper happy, cause then I could get a new iBook for only a little extra cash. So if anyone out there knows anybody in dire need of a laptop (Presario 2710) let me know.

I loaded up Windows 2K Pro on my Gentoo Linux machine last night, and ran all the updates and shit like that, then right after I installed my MCSE prep software on it it crashed and I coudln’t turn it back on. So at first I was thinking it was the power supply shitting the bed on me, which was OK cause I have an extra 400W PSU laying around here somewhere, but after about 10 minutes or so I had to use the printer and didn’t want to have to hook it up to my laptop, so I tried the power button again, and it fired right up, and has been running since last night. So I have no idea what it was. It hasn’t cuaght fire or started smoking yet, so I’m not going to worry about it.

Hopefully my books for my two classes will be here soon. I’m anxious to get them started, so I can see how I do being ‘Back to Skool’. Its been awhile since I have had homework and such so hopefully I can manage my time well enough to sit down and get it done, I see Kelly doing a couple weeks ahead of the class in a couple of nights so if I can pull off something like that these 2 classes won’t be difficult at all. I also have to call the VA sometime this week to make sure you GI Bill money is going to come through for this semester, otherwise itsn’t going to be 900 bones and some change out of pocket.

It’s almost time to go to the gym, I should find something to snack on before we leave, perhpas some lunchmeat, no bread.

Oh and one more thing I finally managed to fix the login screen so you won’t get the missing security image anymore, so if anyone cares. Also remember that you don’t need to log out once you are logged in, the site places a cookie so you don’t have to keep logging in each time you come to the site.
