Well I managed to import about 125 posts from the old PhpNuke database into WordPress today. Talk about tedious. The CSV importer that I’m using is pretty stringent about formatting. First I use a custom SQL query to get all of the correct fields that I need. Then I export the query results to pipe delimited csv format. Then I copy that into MS Word and strip out all carriage returns. See PhpNuke didn’t have a wysiwyg post editor at the time so all of our posts are loaded with HTML tags for formatting. Once I strip out the carriage returns I have to go through by hand and seperate the posts. Then run a search and replace to populate the extra fields that the importer requires. So it is taking a few hours for each hundred or so posts. But it’s crazy reading stuff from ~5 years or so ago. So far I came across our first iPod, the day we were robbed in LA, the day after we got Stoli. Lots of memories.<\/p>\n
Tomorrow I’m going to attempt to work from Brady’s room. I think I only have one call tomorrow so it shouldn’t be to difficult. Maybe if things are slow I can wrap up the blog archives.<\/p>\n
