Vet bound dogs seem to be a trend right now.\u00a0 Dudey got into fire ants *again* a few weeks ago but we managed to escape a vet visit with lots of Benadryl.\u00a0 But Stoli and Dude have both had to go in the last couple of weeks.\u00a0 Stoli had a trail of blood running down her fur a few weeks ago and it kind of freaked us out.\u00a0 It happened on a Saturday at 6pm – outside of normal vet hours.\u00a0 She was still acting like herself and eating and drinking so we decided to leave a voicemail for the vet closest that had Sunday hours in order to avoid an emergency vet visit and to hopefully get in first thing in the morning.\u00a0 Well that was the first time and last time that happened but we figured it was out of the ordinary and even though the vet had been open for a couple of hours and hadn’t called us back to confirm an appointment, we would take her in.\u00a0 At 3 on Sunday, Brady and I took Stoli to her appointment.\u00a0 Two hours and $190 later nothing was wrong with her and she probably just had a little irritability or not enough water the day before.\u00a0 Ugh.<\/p>\n
The day after that Dude started doing an inward sneezing thing and coughing.\u00a0 We let him do this from Monday through Thursday and I took him into a different vet that Stoli went to on Friday.\u00a0 I’ve been suspecting he had allergies but he wasn’t reacting to the Beandaryl.\u00a0 The vet confirmed my suspicious even though over the phone they suspected he had kennel cough.\u00a0 They put him on a few pills and gradually he’s gotten better.\u00a0 He went from sneezing and coughing at least 6 times a day to maybe sneezing once.\u00a0 When I was at the vet, she alluded that I shouldn’t take my dogs to the place I took Stoli (I had disclose where they might have come into contact with other dog matter\/diseases – possibly bordatella).\u00a0 I couldn’t let this go that there was something wrong about this place and asked the lady at the front desk and she said she wouldn’t take her animals to this particular vet I asked about (even when their office was closed) she said she’d drive to Round Rock (30 minutes away) and go to the emergency clinic.\u00a0 Hmmm.\u00a0 Part of me thinks that was them not wanting to send people to their closest competition but then again who knows what they see and animals brought in from their competition that isn’t diagnosed properly or for overcharging (when NOTHING is wrong).\u00a0 $300 later and the dogs are back to themselves.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
