{"id":230,"date":"2008-01-05T21:55:40","date_gmt":"2008-01-06T04:55:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/68ba7cb72d.nxcli.net\/blog\/?p=230"},"modified":"2008-11-18T08:45:57","modified_gmt":"2008-11-18T15:45:57","slug":"one-more-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/caseyandkelly.com\/?p=230","title":{"rendered":"One more day."},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Sigh&#8230; Its nearly Sunday already.<\/p>\n<p>Today was a great day, Jim just happened to have an extra EVGA Geforce 7900GT that he gave\/loaned me, since he wasn&#8217;t using it.\u00c2\u00a0 I can now play Team Fortress 2 at solid frame rates and a good resolution.<\/p>\n<p>I may sneak into work on Monday and steal my monitor from my desk, and also swing by the Excess Room and see if I can swipe a small laptop hard drive for free.\u00c2\u00a0 I don&#8217;t need anything large only 10-20GB, just enough to load XP on this laptop, cause running Linux from my thumb drive is driving me crazy.<\/p>\n<p>I will tell you why Linux isn&#8217;t more pervasive on the desktop&#8230; IT SUCKS!\u00c2\u00a0 I was unable to get Flash to work consistently.\u00c2\u00a0 I have to drape a patch cable across the living room floor to be able to access the Internet, since I&#8217;m unable to get my wireless card to load properly on a three year old laptop.\u00c2\u00a0 I read an article the other day that blamed Apple and Mac OS X on killing the chances of Linux on the desktop.\u00c2\u00a0 Apple did it right, they wrapped *NIX into an easy to use graphical system that is just easy to use, Linux is all about tinkering, and that is all you will do is tinker.\u00c2\u00a0 I want something that &#8220;Just Works&#8221; and that includes Windows most of the time.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m getting excited for the upcoming MacWorld.\u00c2\u00a0 So many rumors going around, tablet, ultra-portable, black MacBook Pro etc.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/www.blogsmithmedia.com\/www.engadget.com\/media\/2008\/01\/apple-mactouch-mockups.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"376\" height=\"576\" \/><\/p>\n<p>I should get a night job to feed my gadget addiction.\u00c2\u00a0 I really shouldn&#8217;t get a new laptop though.\u00c2\u00a0 I think i will get a new work laptop in October of this year (hopefully with Blu-Ray) and as long as I can get this laptop in good working order I will be in good shape.<\/p>\n<p>Kelly and I picked up a few HD-DVDs the other day that I forgot to mention, probably a waste of cash following the announcement by Warner and New Line that they were going exclusively Blu-Ray.\u00c2\u00a0 If Microsoft had been a team player and had integrated an HD-DVD drive into the Xbox360 instead of the external add-on drive, things would be way different.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: center\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/images.macrumors.com\/article\/2008\/01\/05\/warner_300.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"306\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But anyway we picked up the following HD-DVDs from Best Buy on a Buy 3 Get 2 Free deal:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Superman Returns<\/li>\n<li>Batman Begins<\/li>\n<li>Top Gun<\/li>\n<li>Bourne Ultimatum<\/li>\n<li>Transformers<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>I was actually surprised at how well Top Gun actually looked in 1080p considering how old the film really is but it looked great.\u00c2\u00a0 Batman Returns was more difficult to see a large difference over the SD version of the movie.\u00c2\u00a0 Jim and I watched clips from Transformers today and that looks really good as well.\u00c2\u00a0 But alas purchasing any more HD-DVDs is probably a bad idea at this point.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Sigh&#8230; Its nearly Sunday already.
