The rest of the story…

It doesn’t felt like I’ve sat down in the last 2.5 weeks since the whole moving process begun. We’ve managed to spend a lot of time and money on the house in this time and it’s already looking a ton better. The entire house has been custom painted (like my real estate jargon), all of the outlets have been replaced, new thermostat, new tile in the entryway (kitchen tomorrow, bathroms later this month), and new carpet throughout. Tomorrow’s big agenda is to go back to Lowes and buy new appliances (washer, dryer, fridge, range, and dishwasher). If I have time while Casey’s installing the tile I may go to work on some painting. Three of the four bathrooms, the office, and the kitchen still need to be painted. Other than that the decorating/home improvements are progressing as planned.

With all the space, we’ve managed to get all of our boxes into closets that don’t need to be unpacked right away (Christmas, camping, etc) instead of having a storage bedroom like in the past. It’s nice to have all the extra space but it’s a little too much at this point. We don’t have the furniture to fill it and it’s 28 stairs one way (I counted) so moving boxes up and down and forgetting something turns into a mini workout. Stoli doesn’t even bother following me around anymore if there are more than two trips up the stairs, she just waits on the second floor for me to come back around. Other than setting up bookshelves and hanging up some clothes, we’re unpacked.

Happy Birthday to Randi and Justin (and maybe baby Jack)!!!

Brief update

We got the keys to our house and it was “officially” in our possession as of the 17th. This past week has been crazy busy and we haven’t had a second to sit down and relax. I’m sure Casey will be looking forward to work this week to get a much needed break. The move was pushed back another week so we can work on the house which means another almost week of working hard everyday. I’m headed back down there in a few minutes and hopefully will be able to take tomorrow off to do some much needed cleaning and packing in our apartment. And log in to my classes. It’s my second to last semester before I graduate so I can’t afford to drop or fail any classes. My dad’s birthday was on Saturday – Happy Birthday to him!

Post? Post!

I guess I will post SOMETHING, it has been a good while. Lets see what is there to say.

First off work is almost done here at TAX. James will be arriving this evening from Denver and will be coming over here tomorrow to prepare for our next contract that will start in a couple weeks. We are doing our final close outs here this week and next. I have a pantload of documentation to upload, and a presentation to develop for the next contract, some server sign-off checklists to develop, 1 more exchange server to deploy, blah blah blah. The list could go on for quite some time, but this isn’t the place.

Kelly is out our new house today cleaning, apparently its pretty disgusting right now. But hopefully by Monday it will be in good shape because the movers will be arriving to pick up our stuff from the apartment and moving it to the house. Tomorrow Adelphia is coming out to install our cable and cable modem, can’t move into a place unless it has high speed internet access.

I’m in dire need of some time off. I’m hoping to have maybe a week off between contracts but that doesn’t seem likely to happen.

Retraction

It seems that the news that Christopher Walken was running for office in 2008 was just a hoax according to his publicist. To read the whole story go to: http://washingtontimes.com/upi/20050815-094627-5892r.htm(if you want to read the whole thing copy and paste because I hate doing the whole ordeal).

Moving update

The movers are now scheduled for next Monday so everything is falling into place. Casey and I have all the utilities scheduled to be turned on this week. When I called about getting our electric turned on they said that they could do it today since the previous owner was getting it changed out of his name today. I’m waiting, not so patiently, for our realtor to call to say she has the keys and we’re ready to take possession (finally). I’ll keep you up to date with our moving progress and will be sending change of address emails out in the next day or so.

The Skeleton Key

The movie was pretty good but predictable since I’ve read the script. Casey was surprised by the ending and other than accent malfunctions (Peter Sarsgaard and Gena Rowlands who seemed to slip in and out without notice) was worthwhile. The directing although questionable during and seemingly unconfident was worthwhile and the cinematography created the atmosphere and stage for Kate Hudson to unleash her dramatic skills.

The first scene I’m in, Kate is driving her car at the beginning of the movie and she (I) run my finger down the map. Second scene, she is placing a picture down in her room as she unpacks. Other scenes I remember: many scenes opening doors, I opened the door intot he room with the horse, using the bobby pin on a lock, beating the steering wheel in the car, jamming the gears, on the second floor pouring brick dust, running down the main aisle in the attic with the page she ripped out of Violet’s hands (that’s the scene I was strapped to the crane and the camera for), grabbing items from the Hoodoo Room, having a mirror fall on me with the candles, flipping the record over in the Hoodoo Room, flipping through the album in the Hoodoo Room, using the items from the Hoodoo Room, kicking open the window in her room, and probably others I’m forgetting (I was watching the movie too) and then my stunt was crawling up/down the trellis in the rain and slipping. Plenty of scenes for you to watch for me in!

Christopher Walken in 2008

I just saw this: http://www.walken2008.com/index.htmlon a link from another site. According to the news release Christopher Walken is going to be running for President in 2008. I’m assuming democratic considering the statements he makes but I’m agreeing with what he says so far. How cool would it be to have him as President?! I guess he has too much going on with another film and acting responsibilities that he’s not going to go public (probably with all the publicity and stuff) until it conincides with the release of the films’ release.

We still haven’t seen The Skeleton Key yet and I’m getting excited. We’re heading out shortly to get a late lunch and go see the 4:30 show. I’ll let you know what I think and where I see me afterwards so check back later!

Kate Hudson

I read an interview where Kate Hudson says she did all of her own stunts in The (a news release was sent out so the article ‘the’ could be added to the title, it does sound better) Skeleton Key. Working on the movie I can confirm that Kathy Jarvis (her profile is on IMDb if you’re interested, I just hate linking things) did a great deal of them. I even did a stunt and have a voucher with a bump for stunt pay to prove it. She did do some scenes but c’mon why take all the credit.

i saw kate on leno last night and they showed a scene where there was an insert shot of “her” hands. i didn’t do this scene so i’m hoping when she’s on letterman (monday night) they’ll show a different hand/back side/profile/leg scene and it’ll be me!

Then, this morning I saw pics from the Skeleton Key Premier which was last night. My invitation must have gotten lost in the mail. I’m not bitter, I just think we probably would have made an effort to attend.

Movers

These moving companies are relentless. it’s a good thing I have Gmail because these people do not stop. I told them my preferred method of contact was by email so they’re sending emails and then following up minutes later with a phone call. This started at 8 this morning and lasted all day. Most of the quotes are falling within a general range but it’d be a lot easier if they’d just quote by the weight since we already know that versus by the time because that could vary by how many movers, their physical abilities, the weather, traffic, etc. Very few are based on weight and those that aren’t are quoting from $100-160 PER HOUR to move our stuff 40 miles. PLUS they charge us for travel time from 1-2 hours for their time to get to and from their office. Ugh this is such a pain in the ass. My phone is going on vibrate tomorrow because sending people to voicemail didn’t work this morning – one guy called THREE times in a row. Get a clue!

New pics posted

Since I don’t have anything new to really post about it, I posted pictures of Stoli to make up for it.

Casey’s in Dallas this week for work so Stoli and I will be hiding out in the AC as usual. Stoli’s not used to sleeping without Casey and barked at EVERYTHING last night, I’m sure there’ll be more of it the rest of the week. I got the new Sohpie Kinsella book, The Undomestic Goddess, and Goldie Hawn’s memoirs, A Lotus Grows in the Mud, from the library so that should keep me busy. I finally succumbed to the temptation and ordered the new Harry Potter book. The total for that and all my books for 5 classes next semester was only $80 so not a bad deal, I can rationalize it.

Today has been spent pricing movers – not fun. Hopefully we’ll be able to have someone move us for less than $750 full service everything so I don’t have to get a U-haul to save money for moving the boxes. We’re not going that far so you wouldn’t think it be so expensive. I guess it’s one of the pitfalls of always trading up in housing size – more furniture for the additional space. I hate to see how much we’re gonna have to move after living in the townhouse.
