Getting warmer

The weather is warming up slightly and I’ve been able to see the sun for two days in a row. Stoli and I drove down to Rachel’s today and kept her company while she gardened. Julie came over yesterday and we had lunch together and then spent the afternoon watching movies and playing with Stoli. Sadly, she went home today but the good news is we’ll hopefully see her and Matt on the 4th of July. Congratulations on your new job, Matt!

I expected to be able to get into see the eye surgeon this week but as it turns out it won’t be until mid-April. The time is drawing nearer to my eyeball being sliced open.

HAPPY EASTER!

By request (well as if I wasn’t going to do it anyway) Stoli’s Easter picture. Now which holiday is up next?

Ready for spring

This weekend we took Stoli to a bone hunt (like an Easter egg hunt except for dogs) at one of the parks around here. Unfortunately, we took a wrong turn and showed up a little late otherwise I’m sure Stoli would have won the bunny ears contest. She was so cute – strangers were even taking pictures of her. We got a picture of her with the Easter Bunny but she wouldn’t look at the camera. We got several other cute pictures that I’ll post in the gallery.

This weekend is the Cherry Blossom Festival in DC so we may go check that out. It just sucks we can’t bring Stoli on the Metro, we’ll have to get the opener for Casey’s work spot or brave the crowds and search for an illusive parking spot. Other than that, no plans for this weekend – yet. Back to schoolwork – only 6 weeks left of this semester.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOHN and Happy St. Patty’s Day

We’d like to wish my Uncle John a very happy birthday! He an extra license to drink today. I have my splash of green on for the day and Casey’s trying to find out what we’re doing tonight – maybe wings and beers. If not, we’ll stay at home and I’ll spike our beers with a little green food coloring instead.

It’s been a busy spring break instead of relaxing. I’ve played catchup on everything this week. I’ve gotten the windshield replaced in the car which appeared 2 days after we got here and went from a small crack to a foot long, emissions and inspection, been to the DMV twice this week – once for my new driver’s license (bad picture, Colorado is the only state capable of taking a good picture) and once for the new title and plates (LUV2SHP), gone to my new doctor, took Stoli to the vet for the last of her vaccinations and get information on spaying and ID’ing her (either tattoo or microchip) and got my hair cut and colored.

Now that all those expenses are out of the way, we can begin saving more for a house. Rachel’s mom is a realtor so hopefully we’ll be able to give our 3% instead of someone else. If Rachel gets her say, I’m sure we’ll be shown houses in the Stafford area. It’s a good thing traffic isn’t as bad as LA or I wouldn’t have been quite as productive this week.

Happy St. Patricks Day….

Stoli wants to wish everyone a happy St. Patrick’s Day. She is really hoping someone will spill some beer for her.

Its been rough at work as of late. I have been knee deep in SAN configuration and troubleshooting. As it turns out I am responsible for one of the CX500s at a site not working. Apparently while in a hurry to ship it to the site I pulled a pair of the Vault drives and accidentaly replaced them with 146GB Fiber Channel HDDs. So needless to say the CX500 can’t find the Flare and refuses to boot properly. And now I have to configure these damn FC/IP conversion switches to enable full SAN replication between a pair of remote sites…….. the headaches.

I have been trying to play World of Warcraft in the evenings but I just can’t get into it lately. I play for about forty-five minutes then start thinking about work and log off. I’m trying to sell Justin on it, so perhaps I will keep my slow pace so when he picks it up he can catch up easier.

Houses are SO expensive in this area, I’m sick of spending about 20 percent of my income on apartments. When our lease is up here they will be raising the rent by almost 200 dollars if we decide to renew, I just can’t take that crap………

EDIT:
Here is a little video of Stoli wearing her St Patrick’s headband.

I call Bullshit

Social INSecurity. Oh wait its referred from Democrats.Gov…. I should have known…..

EDIT:
After furthur review using some of the simple calculators provided by the Social Security administration website it appears that with my current income projection and a projected retirement age of 67 I will have paid in nearly 650,000 into Social Security. But I will onlly recieve 3300 a month or something like that. The projected life expectancy for a male is something like 77 years according to the SS website. So i paid in money my whole working career, and then I only get to use it for 10 years before I’m DEAD. Arrrrgghhhhh

The stress is kicking in

The SAN I’m trying to build is starting to drive me insane. I have been trying for about 8 hours now to successfully log into the SPs through the Management console. Its a crazy process involving proprietary cables from EMC and custom DUN settings in Windoze. I managed to get one of the SPs configured first thing this morning, but when that was done I switched the cable to the other SP and everything just fell apart. The unit is acting like it doesn’t exist……grrrrrrr. I suppose it is a very good learning experience, but I don’t have time for this. I basically have 13 days to COMPLETE this entire site, including ALL SAN related tasks, Exchange, File/Print Services……EVERYTHING.

GRRRRRRR

Just needed to vent a little……
