Congratulations to my Mom for graduating magna cum laude with her BSN from Regis University today. We drove up to Denver to watch my mom walk. The ceremony started promptly at 10, so we had to drag ourselves out of bed to make it on time. The weather was supposed to have been close to 70 today but ended up being overcast and windy while in Denver. Luckily, Grandma brought blankets to keep us warm. It was a long ceremony but my Mom deserved her moment for all the time she has spent working on her degree. You did, you’re finally done! I don’t think she’ll be going for a masters degree anytime soon.

To celebrate, for lunch we went to The Loop in Manitou Springs. They have some pretty tasty mexican food and HUGE margaritas. I made the mistake of filling up on chips and salsa so I had to get a to-go box for my food. The margaritas were only ok. Casey can make much better ones. My food turned out to be pretty good, I could have done without all the rice but it was good. My mom was kinda drunk after finishing off her BIG margarita. It’s been really fun having John here with us! We went by the theater this afternoon to pick up tickets to see X2…again. Only Jim, Casey, and I saw it on Friday so everyone else wants to see it too. After all that food and drinks for some people, we ALL needed a nap. So we slept for about 2 hours or so. After waking up, we watched Bad Boys and X-Men. We got back home not too long ago and are getting ready to head off to bed.

Today is also Nicole’s birthday. Happy Birthday Nicole!

Got quite the workout today. Since we missed two days of going to the gym last week, we decided to go today. Deb and John went with us. John and I worked chest today. I can tell I’m really going to be sore tomorrow. When we got done working out, Kelly and I came back home to shower and change clothes. John and Deb went to the grocery store and bought some great T-Bones. There wasn’t a single one of them that was under 1.5 pounds, and the one I had was probably about two pounds. So I threw those on the grill and we had those for a late lunch. Then just about an hour and some change ago, I threw a couple of packages or brats on the grill and we had those for supper. A great BBQing day if I do say so.

Tomorrow we have to get up early again and drive to Denver (again). Kelly’s mom is graduating from college, and tomorrow is her ceremony. We have to be there at about 9:45 so we can find our seats and all that good stuff. After the ceremony we are going to be going to The Loop down in Manitou for dinner. Jim tells me that they have huge margaritas there, 48oz or something like that. So it will probably be a fun night.

Ummm I can’t think of anything else. I kinda slacked off these last few days from posting, I’ll try to make up for it. 🙂

After wising up and reading the emails that we got when I ordered the CP72 from Amazon, I saw that they cancelled the order right after we made it due to the fact that they were OUT OF STOCK. It was driving me crazy. So I called Soundtrack back and asked them if the still had the CP72 in stock. And they said yes, and it was down to $188 instead of $240 like it was last week. So I shot down there and after much digging the guy managed to find it.

I brought it home and hooked it up, and after a little confusion I figured out now to enable Progressive output on my TV. I did realize that my TV doesn’t do a native 720p resolution so it will have to be scaled to 1080i once HDTV is in wide usage. So after getting the 480p signal working I popped in Monsters Inc, and tested for the chroma bug, and to see what the overall quality was. It looked FANTASTIC.

Now I still don’t know what I need a 5 disc DVD player for, but I suppose if we were sitting down and watching a Friends Season 1 marathon we could load all discs into the player, or maybe when The Two Towers Special Edition is released I can load all the discs in there at once. I did test an SVCD I had of Cowboy Bebop and it worked quite well. I don’t think the disc had chapters so all you can do is fast forward through the movie unlike a DVD but I can live with that. Now if I only had a really good 6.1 reciever (or 7.1) with a DTS/THX decoder, I would be in heaven.

My legs are still hurting me this morning, but at least it is less then yesterday. So I’m not walking around like Ozzy all day long. But we need to go pick up tickets for X2 and Matrix, and get something to eat. After that we have to run to the Commisary. It seems like we go there every week. I can’t stand grocery shopping, and I hate it even more when we have to go on base. You know how they line you up like cattle waiting for a checker and shit like that. GRRRRR it drives me crazy.

OK we are off.

I really like when Baskin Robbins has free ice cream nights. It was a mad house over there, but we snuch in and managed to get a couple of cones before it got really really packed. By the time we left there was a super long line right out the door.

I’m gonna try and watch Army of Darkness right now. “Who wants some Boomstick?” I love this movie. I wouldn’t mind owning the the Evil Dead series, its pretty good.

Jim is going to go pick up tickets to the 10 AM first showing of X2 tomorrow, and maybe tickets to Matrix Reloaded also, but those I’m not sure of. The theater has a showing of X2 on the IMAX screen at 10PM but I didn’t care for the showing of Spiderman on the IMAX, it was like watching regular TV on my widescreen TV eveyrone looked fat.

I’m going to try and finish the pitcher of margaritas we have in the fridge, it will make the pain in my legs go away. 🙂

Gotta keep the bloggers alive. Since Justin has decided that he doesn’t want to maintain a site of his own, I gave him posting privleges on our site. Just think of our site as “Blogs Across America” or something like that. 🙂

I don’t think we are going to make it to the gym today. The day before yesterday Kelly had me doing this excersice machine that works the insides of your thighs, and apparently my legs finally decided to rebel against me. I’m walking around like a damn cowboy. They are killing me, there is no way I could go and sit on the bike for an hour.

Kelly and I watched Phone Booth last night. It wasn’t that bad, and it had some neat cinematography(sp?). We may go see Identity tonight since its payday, and catch X2 on Friday with Jim, since its his day off. Then later that evening Kelly and I have to drive to DIA and pick up her uncle John. And if he decides he wants to see X2 we will see it again. 🙂

Kelly made a bitchin Jambalaya last night. It was hot as hell but great. Unfortunatley I ate about 4 pieces of bread with it to cut the heat down a bit. Bleh carbs, my mortal enemy.

Well I called about my DVD player this morning, it turns out they cancelled the order, and never sent me an email concerning it. So Kelly and continued looking for an XP30 and everywhere I looked/ called was out of them. So we resigned ourselves to the CP72S which is the 5 disc Progressive Scan player by Panasonic. It was still rated very highly on the DVD Benchmark site. Not as good as the XP30 or RP82, but still it did very well. And if anyone should have a 5-disc player I figure it would be us. 🙂

Had way to much food and drinking this weekend. I’m having to work extra hard at the gym this week to try and get back down to 215. I need to start charting my weight training to see if I am progressing at all. I maxed out on a few things yesterday, so I need to record that as well.

Well Apple finally released the new iPods. Hopefully I can get one of my own before to long. I downloaded a couple audiobooks that would be great to listen to while I was at the gym. Also Apple is announcing somthing else this Friday. And it just so happens that we have to make a trip to Denver to go to the Airport so maybe before we go to the Airport we can swing out to the Apple Store and see what the hoopla is all about. I’m hoping that its the new 15in Powerbook. But I will wait on a new Powerbook until we pay off Kelly’s and the new PPC970 (G5?) is released.

We have been getting another flurry of activity from unknown Mac users latley,especially on the Las Vegas pics gallery, I wonder who that is?

OK I think we are getting ready to go tanning now.

Friggin’ birds were making A LOT of noise again and it finally woke us up around noon. We planned on going to the gym early but we say that every Monday morning and it rarely happens. We’re up TOO late on Sunday nights for it to be possible. We’ll go in a bit. Gotta go tanning today too because we don’t go on the weekends.

Tonight we’ll be watching Battle of the Sexes and Punk’d on MTV. Before/after that we’ll proabbly watch some more episodes of Friends. Friday we go pick up John in Denver so that’ll be cool to see him again. The last time he was out was in September. Not TOO long ago but wish we could see him more. Maybe we need to make a trip down to PCB (Hint hint)! That’s all I have for now. I just want to say ‘Vote for ME’, ok now I’m done. 🙂

Casey and I are just sitting around right now watching a rerun of Smallville on WB. In about an hour or so, we’re heading over to Kevin and Rachel’s to BBQ. Yum!

My parent’s came over for enchiladas, margaritas, and strawberry/rhubarb pie (thanks to my parents) last night. We had a good time watching the X-Files and Monsters Inc. After they left, we watched Office Space and when that was over headed to bed at 3 am. It’s gonna be a struggle to get up early in the morning.

Mmmm I like margaritas. Not much going on now. Jim and Deb took off a bit ago, we had some dinner, drank some margaritas watched some TV (X-Files, and Monsters Inc). I can’t wait for my new DVD player to get here. I did see the DVD-XP50 model for only 14 dollars more then I paid for mine, but its no big thing.

I have my baby back ribs marinating right now. I whipped up a quick marinade and hopefully they will be ready for a low flame and some Bryant’s BBQ sauce tomorrow.

I talked to Matt tonight. He was on break at Yellow Freight and wanted to tell me that he has finally taken half of his aircraft maintenance tests, and is now lookinf for a new job, because he can’t find steady work to pay the bills.

Yawn. Its getting pretty late. Perhpas it time to go to bed.

Once again we just couldn’t get out of bed when the alarm went off. We ended up sleeping until about 10:30 or something. Then Dave called and asked if we wanted to do a late lunch with him, Robyn, and his Dad (who is in town right now). So we just sat around not doing much of anything until around 2. Then we went to On the Border, the food was a lot better then it was the last time Kelly and I went there. After we left On the Border we went tanning then came home to change clothes so we could go to the gym.

Now all this time I have been thinking that I was lifting quite a bit of weight, but we found some new machines that the gym just purchased and they have accurate weight numbers. So instead of curling 160 (as Justin was kind enough to point out is nearly impossible) I was only curling about 95. I have no idea how the other machines plates are labled, so my whole world has been thrown into chaos.

When we left the gym we swung by the BX to pick up a few things. I was looking at the DVD players cause I’m dying to see a 480p signal on our TV. But all they had was the Panasonic S35 which I don’t really want. They also had a open box X-Box for 150 and we were actually thinking about getting it. Then I wised up. We had a 30 dollar gift certificate for the BX so we picked up the Friends Season 1 box set for a good price, and we are watching the first disc now.

Oh so getting back to the DVD player I was talking to Mike and he told me that he picked up the Panasonic DVD-XP30 which is a very highly praised Progressive Scan player above several Denon models, and the super high end Krell model. Now this model is discontinued but it is one of the best players for the price, so you have to pay a premium, I saw the XP30 for as high as 499, but I managed to score it for 220 shipped. So hopefully this time next week I will be watching movies on my new DVD player.

Wow this is pretty incoherent, eh.
