Fun.

Well we went on quite the spree yesterday.  Picked up a new PS3, Bluetooth remote, and Devil May Cry 4.  But thats not all.  We also got Rock Band for XBox 360.  Quite a day.  Rock Band is a pantload of fun, Dave called in the middle of it, and I went upstairs to the office, and I could still hear Kelly singing at the top of her lungs.  Fun!

Back to work today.  Mailbox migrations are beginning today to the Exchange environment that James and I put together many months ago.   Hopefully all goes smoothly, but I have a feeling its going to be rocky over the next few days.

We booked our air fare and put down the deposit on our villa in St. John for the beginning of the summer.  Pretty excited to go sit on a beach for a week.  I would move to the coast if I could afford it… <sigh>

I finished our taxes yesterday. I had to send several emails (I’m not really a phone person) to ITT to ensure my W2 got sent to the right place but everything was in order and received yesterday. Like I said in a previous post, we’re not getting nearly as much as I would like but I guess that’s a good thing that we’re not overpaying each week. I’m content, just hoping everything is right and gets accepted by Turbo Tax.

We’ve been just hanging out today. We played Guitar Hero 3 trying to get achievements for several today. And while we got most of the ones we want, one didn’t deliver. Now we’re watching TiVoed Las Vegas and Smallville. Still one more day of the weekend to go for Casey!

Ah so I found a better solution for comment spam.  Akismet is an online service with a WordPress API that allows it to compare comment spam against an online database that the service maintains.  Good deal.

So I’m on the hook to cook dinner tonight and I’m clueless most of the time as to what to cook, so I figured … its 40 degrees outside, why not fire up the grill.  So I have some chicken on the grill and some couscous on the stove.  Nice and simple.  I really need to replace the gas bottle on my grill soon though.  We have been using it strong since we got it, and I can’t imagine it has much left in it.  I really wish they had a gauge  that you could put on before the regulator to show you how gas was remaining…  Perhaps I should look into that.

I found a good WordPress article on comment spam with a list of words to manage comment blacklisting. So be aware that if you actually read this blog and intend to post, don’t put tramadol, soma, viagra or other such words in your comment. 🙂

Not much going on this weekend, we went and got wings and beer on Friday, but other then that we haven’t left the house. No wait I take that back I went and played a round of disc golf at the park yesterday. The temp was 50-ish and sunny so it was a perfect winter day. Still makes me wish warmer weather would make a return but “you can’t always get what you want”.

I’m anxiously awaiting the arrival of my Best Buy gift cards tomorrow so that I may go pick up a PS3, and maybe Rock Band for Xbox 360. I’m not to concerned about the PS3’s lack of backwards compatibility with PS2 games as I no longer own any. And I’m sure I can eventually get the ones I liked on the Playstation Network or whatever its called. Kevin W. was telling me that add-on tracks for Rock Band are cheaper on PS3 then on Xbox, but we already have two guitars that we bought for Guitar Hero 2/3 so best to stick with that platform for now.

I was bored today and cruising YouTube for music videos, and came across a favorite.  James gave me this album a few years ago, the drummer is just incredible.  Check them out.

Kelly got me some Superman graphic novels from the Library so gonna read those tonight, cause I’m not sure there is anything on the tube tonight, but tomorrow is Lost and Season Premiere of Survivor.  I’m real excited for Survivor as its Fans vs. Favorites (who decided the Favs I’m not sure).  Kelly and I have been watching Survivor for a number of years and get a real kick out of it.

I saw today that Amazon had the Xbox 360 HD-DVD on-sale today for $80, until they sold out.  Last gasps by the HD-DVD consortium to bolster the install base.  But if the titles aren’t there neither will the consumers.  JUST DIE ALREADY, so we can get our Blu-Ray cheap.  I was thinking about taking the 36in LCD we have in our bedroom and put it in the office so I can watch movies during the day, or secretly play some Xbox 360 when times are slow.

Read an updated review of the MacBook Air, this time with the SSD option and faster processor.  Turns out spending the additional 1300 dollars definitely isn’t the way to go (as if it was even an option).  I really don’t think Kelly would do well with a MacBook Air.  She told me the other night she had nearly 100 tabs open in Firefox, I’m fairly certain the Air would crumble under the strain.

I ordered my Best Buy gift cards, but still haven’t gotten a tracking number for them.  Hopefully they didn’t vanish into the ether like so many things are at HP right now.  ugh.

Well I finally beat Assassin’s Creed, and currently have 84% of the Achievements. I think I can get all but 2 remaining achievements as soon as I find some time. The remaining 2 will require me to start the game over again (or assassinate every major target again..ugh).

Now that I have Monday’s off the weekends are nice and long… every week. So we have been taking it easy, watching movies and playing Xbox. Sadly though its cold and threatening to snow again… will the Winter never end around here.

So I played the Devil May Cry 4 demo that I downloaded for Xbox last night, lots of fun, and it looks good to boot.  I may have to pick that one up when its released.  So I’m working on a list now:

1. Metal Gear Solid 4 (PS3)
2. Grand Theft Auto IV (PS3 / Xbox)
3. Devil May Cry 4 (PS3 / Xbox)
4. Rock Band (PS3 / Xbox)

Hopefully this week I get my Best Buy gift cards and I may go pick up a PS3.

We’re still waiting on one more W2 before I can file our taxes.  I still haven’t received my W2 from ITT yet and that’s a pretty major one.  Since I’m going to go ahead and try Turbo Tax online this year, as opposed to buying the software, I went ahead and just estimated based on my last pay stub.  Unfortunately its already I can’t just file and tell the IRS I haven’t gotten the W2 until February 15th.  The reason for the slow down in receiving it is that I never bothered giving our new address to ITT after we moved out from my parents so I was hoping that they would just send the W2 there and I could just go pick it up.  But my fear is that USPS will let ITT know that we have moved (which I’ve already contacted ITT letting them know our address and still haven’t gotten anything) and now we’ll have to wait for ITT to receive the W2 back before forwarding on.  Ugh, its so annoying.  Our estimated federal return this year is nowhere near what it was last year so that’s pretty disappointing but hopefully we’ll receive a little bit from state and make a decent amount.  I guess its just a good thing we don’t owe…

Ugh, snow.  It snowed yet again last night and early this morning and we’re expecting more snow overnight.  When will this end?  All year I look forward to a minimum of May – where snow is still a chance but there’s more warmer days.  And then I revel in the heat of June-August.  January already flew by for us, now if the months till summer will as well!
