The weekend is already over and I have no idea where it went. I didn’t leave the house (except to run all weekend). I’m working on that not having a laundry day thing and spreading the load throughout the week. So far, so good but even with not doing everything at once, not everything got folded/hung (New Year’s Resolution 2010 fail).

We’re almost done with Psych season one and am enjoying it thus far. It has it’s corny parts but overall is entertaining and makes us laugh. But i still can’t wait for The Amazing Race and Survivor to start back up!!!

Another 5k is on the books! This time we all went out together – Casey with Brady in the stroller and me trying to run with Dude. After doing a warmup and running into a dog in a yard off its leash, we decided to head up to the track at the school to try running there. Unfortunately (I guess since it was the weekend), the gates were locked and you would have to hop a fence (and throw over a dog and a stroller) to run on there. Even though it was 63, it was a bit breezy Casey decided to take Brady back to the house to warm up. Dude has never been run before and now doesn’t seem like a good time to start him. He has an annoying habit of trying to run in front of me as I’m going along or trying to chase after cars that drive by. That doesn’t make for such an easy run.

After putting the stroller away and getting everyone settled back in the house, I started off again to finish up my run. No excuses, right?! Even with all of that my time for a 5k ended up being the same as it was a few days ago when I ran. I did have a little chest tightness/pressure/difficulty breathing but I managed to push through it. And I think the Claritin is definitely helping with the hives because I was hive-free yet again today!

I’m already a little sore and I know it’s going to be even worse tomorrow. Hopefully it’ll warm up again this week and I can get some more run time in. I’ll also be signing up for my first 5k soon! Wish me luck!

Not really much to say today. It was pretty cold again and we didn’t go for a run or a walk. I made pasta fagioli for dinner and we watched Pdych after Brady went to bed. Now time for bed…

I took Brady back to the pediatrician for a follow up and to get her Prevnar and flu shots.  Her appointment was at 10:15 and we didn’t get put into the room until 11.  Not only do I hate waiting but the waiting room is probably only a 12×12 room and sick/well kids are all mingling together.  I saw dried snot on some of these kids faces and they were coughing and everyone was acting like it was ok we were all together.  It’s not.  I hate that waiting room and that there’s only one doctor.  I adore the pediatrician though so it’s such a tough call on whether to stay with her practice or switch.

The nurse weighed Brady again today and this time she stood on the scale long enough (by herself even this time) for the nurse to get a weight.  It said she was 31.2 pounds which is up from 29.4 two weeks ago.  Some of that probably is her clothes but I’m glad to see the number going up again.  Unfortunately her ears are still infected and she’s being put on a higher strength antibiotic.  One she’s never been on before, Omnicef, so I’m hoping she doesn’t have a reaction to it.

I heard the nurse practitioner call in the prescription while we were waiting so I stopped at Walgreens on my way home to pick it up.  The tech said she didn’t see it and that she would check on it.  After 25 minutes of waiting and no updates from her on whether it was there or not, I asked if they had located it yet and how long it would be and she said they had not and she didn’t know where the prescription was but she was still taking all the messages off the phone (how long had they been there?  Brady’s prescription was called in an hour ago by that time).  I went ahead and brought her home to get her some lunch and a nap.

I was hoping to get both doses of the prescription in her today but that’s not going to happen now.  After picking up her prescription (which with the HDHP ended up being $50.10), I  headed to Target to pick up some probiotics for her.  I bought the child ones but am thinking I should have bought the adult ones since they’d be powder/ball things that would dissolve easier?  Poor baby!  This is only her third ear infection but I worry about hearing damage/loss each time she gets one.  Her first ear infection at a year old didn’t clear up with the first round of antibiotics either so here’s hoping that it’s just a stubborn one and no damage has been done.

I ran my first 5k today.  I don’t necessarily know it’s my first ever but I’m pretty sure it is.  And in all honesty, it was probably 50% run 50% walk.  My time ended up being 44 minutes which I don’t think is that great.  Apparently those that are running in timed (chipped) 5k’s want 12 minute miles.  Boo, still too slow for that.  But this is only the third time I’ve run in 2011 and the third since September and I wasn’t too great then either.  And definitely wasn’t going that far.

I did better today and didn’t have any hives.  I guess the Claritin we’ve started taking before bed is helping.  Which reminds me I should probably order some more off of Amazon so I don’t have any excuses not to run.  Off to bed now…

That septic issue I posted about last week was finally resolved today.  The guy from the wastewater company just finished pumping our septic system. The times that our septic alarm has gone off are when family have been visiting.  The septic guy said the Achille’s heel of it all is that for the size of house we have, the area we have for a leech field is surprisingly small.  Meaning our septic system isn’t really the appropriate size for our house and if there’s more water going through it than absolutely necessary, we’re probably going to have issues.

This is my first experience ever with a septic system and it appears some behavior modification will be taking place to avoid another costly ($395) pumping.  There will no longer be a “laundry day” and instead I’ll need to spread out the laundry loads throughout the week to prevent too much water from entering the tank at any one time. Today is the exception.  Today we’re trying to get some water back into the tank again and laundry and long showers were recommended.  As much as it pains me to waste water, it’s a necessary evil in this case.  (I say pains me as I’ve been trying to save money and looking at rain barrels.)

I actually don’t have much at all to say today which ends up leading to a posting hiatus. I guess the only thing out of the ordinary is Casey worked from home thud afternoon and we went to Plucker’s tonight for dinner. I guess other than that we’ve just been grateful new TV episodes of TV shows were on tonight.

Oh and did you hear about the EU omitting Christian holidays from their school calendars while leaving Jewish and Muslim holidays? That’s just a recipe for disaster.

It’s been a busy day. Or so it seems. We haven’t done a whole lot really. But we did manage to get (2) 45×45 hanging garage organizers hung (or Casey did) and totes organized and arranged on them. Casey posted a pic on Facebook but I really don’t think it does justice for how far our garage has come. It was never really terrible before (both cars fit in) but with the Accord being bigger than the Civic, every little bit helps. During the organization/planning process, Casey even cleaned out the limited attic space we do have and there’s now room for the Christmas decorations in there! Unfortunately while in the attic, he did notice some mold from the water heater which we’ll have to get checked out but other than that the walls aren’t closing in on us nearly as much anymore!

Unfortunately most of the other pics either didn’t turn out, are on our phones, and/or people didn’t like themselves in that have already seen them.  We really need to start taking more pictures of everything/everyone!  Enjoy this last batch from 2010!
