Doom 3 has finally gone GOLD. I have been waiting for this game for quite a while now. So I guess that means its almost time to upgrade the computer again. Maybe score an Athlon 64 board with PCI Express (do they even have those yet?). With Doom 3 out now, my other hope is that HalfLife 2 will also be released soon. Although after the initial hype of Id’s latest creation has worn off.

I installed Fedora Core 2 today at work on an extra Athlon XP machine I had sitting at my desk. I had just enough time to do a FULL install (6+GB) and install Webmin and begin a package update and then I headed out the door. Apparently they are installing some new supports for a window washer on our building’s roof so they were jack hammering into the ceiling above my head. There were pieces of ceiling time and drywall falling all over the place. Our building is a piece of shit.

Its starting to warm up around here now, “June Gloom” is over. When I walked into the apartment today (about 20 min ago) the temp was 77 inside. Not to bad, but a little warm for my liking. Monday I get to drive up to an offiste in Santa Maria, which I believe is in Santa Barbara county, the south end of wine country. We are going up to check out the office since I have never been up there, but also to check out the area, its supposed to be really nice.

I have so many projects going on at work right now that its hard to get anything done. I’m currently working on a login script in VBScript to cover all the needs of our 2K plus users, rewrite the intranet homepage using some COTS or homegrown CMS software in PHP, Perl, MySQL or whatever else they want it in, finsih some Premiere work that I have been putting off for a month, and develop some courseware for another training session that I’m trying to put together. Loads of stuff to get done. I really need an assistant (which I’m really pushing for with the people in my office and my boss). Now if only the funding would come through…. maybe in October.

Kelly just wrapped for the day and is going to be on her way home soon. There was a fatal traffic accident at the 405 and the 101 about two hours ago that is still backing up traffic, so who knows how long it will take Kelly to get home. So we are probably going to be ordering some pizza for dinner. Time to go look for some coupons…

Long day on set again, this is my third day and I am now SAG eligible!!! All I have to do is take my vouchers and check stubs (when I get them) down to the SAG office along with my $1300 in membership fees and I will be a member!!! I’m working again tomorrow so am heading to take a bath and then to bed. I should have more to talk about when I catch up on my sleep.

I guess the 4Runner just hates me, it has started up just fine for Kelly the last two times that she has gotten in the damn thing, but this morning when I’m feeling to lazy to ride the bike to work it won’t start. GRRRRRR. So I had to ride the bike to work anyway. Oh well it gets me off my lazy ass and helps me burn the 4 pounds I put on from all the traveling. I guess I need to take that damn truck to the dealer or somewhere and get them to fix the damn thing, its a real pain in the ass when I have a doctors appointment and Kelly is on the set or at work.

I really need to take my Powerbook to the Apple store to get the screen repaired before the one year warranty expires, we also need to get Kelly’s Powerbook to CompUSA to get the optical drive repaired, it just doesn’t like to burn CDs or read a disc.. very strange. The thing with taking my laptop in, or Kelly’s for that matter, is we just don’t like being apart from our laptops. We have an extra laptop, but it isn’t a Powerbook. We really should try and sell Kelly’s Powerbook and get her a new one since the 867 is showing its age, I mean they have upped the FSB across the whole PB line to 333 and the processor speed is almost double what the original Rev 1 Powerbook had, plus it has a 4X Superdrive instead of her current CD-R/DVD Combo drive. I too wouldn’t mind scoring a new Powerbook, but mine is still going strong, but the Radeon 9700, and the 4X Superdirve still make me want a new one.

We have a lot of things going on a work this week. First of all we are upgrading the firmware and drivers on ALL backup devices and then FINALLY upgrading the version of Veritas that we are running. It was so out of date, and was rarely consistent in completing backups. So hopefully we will be able to clear everything up.

OK it looks like we are heading to Long Beach for a bit, so I gotta wrap this up.

Day 2 on Skeleton Key and things went well. I stayed in my trailer until about 4 and then stood around till 6 when they used me for 1 scene. I got 12 hours and 15 minutes which means I earned some good money for the day. Tomorrow at 7am I will have my third SAG voucher and will be eligible to join the union!!! They hired a replacement for me for Thursday and Friday so I’m very grateful that they brought me back. I have a doctor and dentist appointment scheduled for Wendesday but I’ll be cancelling those just in case they recall me. I’m tired but it’s all been worth it. Still haven’t gotten the chance to have a conversation with Kate but I’m still hoping. I talked to one of the interns at Geddes, Tracy, and she worked ‘The Virgin of Juarez’ this weekend and had a 45 minute conversation with Minnie Driver and Minnie gave Tracy her production company business card! Exciting things are happening! More to come I’m sure.

Well I won’t reiterate everything that Casey said. Something he forgot to mention is that while waiting at baggage claim at LAX we saw Cedric the Entertainer. Good time in Missouri, except for the humidity and bugs. Glad it won’t be like that in November when we return. Got 2 new pairs of Steve Maddens and Casey a pair of Docs. Another shopping note got a new pair of Prada sunglasses that are super cute. Don’t say anything about the money, my last pair (which I still have) lasted me 7 years. Good times.

Well we made it back from MO safely. We spent time with my family and it was a lot of fun, a little humid and hot but fun all the same. Kelly and I got to ride on the new Quads that my folks bought, we even took them down into a nearby creek to play in the mud and water whcih was a lot of fun. But now its back to the grind.

Matt and Julie are flying into LAX on the 28th of this month for some fun here and in Vegas, so this evening we are going to book a hotel stay somewhere, our choices right now are TI/Bally’s/Aladdin. we will have to decide tongiht. Perhaps on Sunday we will go to Universal Sutdios or DisneyLand with Matt and Julie …..hmmmmm….

Kelly is off working on Skeleton Key again today I don’t want to keep stealing her thunder so that is all I will say.

We have a load of pictures to upload this evening when we get home, I think I filled up the CF card at least twice while we were away.

I took a razor to my head and shaved off EVERYTHING, Kelly and I think it looks a lot better then before, its just a little more maintenance and a little me dangerous. I nicked my head with the razor a few times so I had little pieces of toilet paper stuck to my massive mellon, that was pretty goofy looking.

I’m starving right now, and I need to go to the bank and post office. I guess that means its time for lunch.

Casey already stole my thunder but today I got to meet Kate Hudson’s (!) when I was her photo double on ‘Skeleton Key’!!! It was so awesome and she is even skinnier and prettier in person. I also saw her son, Ryder, and her assistant and dog who at one point followed after me because she thought I was Kate (her dog). How big a compliment is that?! (No sign of Chris or Goldie but there were pix of Kate, Chris, and Ryder in the hair and makeup trailer! Should’ve grabbed some of them. 😉 For those that are curious she drives a black BMW 745Li. I managed to get a SAG voucher and am almost definitley going to be called back next week and earn my remaining 2 SAG vouchers I need!!! What an awesome day to meet my favorite actress!

This weekend we had a great time with family and friends in Colorado. Blake was sweet enough to pick us up and drop us off which gave us extra time to spend with him. We also got to meet his fabulous friend, Terry, and have a yummy lunch together at Benny’s in Denver. We’ll be spending this weekend with family again this time in Kansas City.

We had a great time in Colorado this weekend, and I hope to maybe go back again n September to go camping and use all of that damn camping gear that Kelly and I own. On Thursday afternoon Kelly and I are heading out to LAX again, this time to go visit my folks, so we will get to spend All day Friday and all day Saturday with them, then we have to leave again on Sunday. We are getting a few frequent flyer miles with Frontier airlines though, we will have about 10K or so miles after this weekend. So maybe if we start traveling more we can get some free tickets.

Kelly is off doing stand in work for Kate Hudson today, I don’t know much else, and I’m sure she will post about it later. So I guess its time to get back to work, I have to finish hashing out this VBScript, then I have to walk home since Kelly dropped me off at work this morning.

Home again, home again, back in Colorado. Like Casey said there was happy shock to see us. I wasn’t sure if Tasha would remember us or if she would just be excited cause we were new people. But she does remember us and heas been following us around since we arrived. We went on a walk last night and it wore her out. She got old in the 6 months we’ve been gone.

Casey prepping the meat so we can begin BBQing. Casey met Dave and they played a round of frisbee golf before it started raining and I hung out with my mom. I was going to hang out with Marla but she wasn’t answering her phone and was probably at work (check your messages!). James and Lana should be coming over soon to join in the festivities with us. We were just talking about which displays we should be able to see. We’ve got some cow and some beers and are ready to celebrate!

Well we made it back to the Springs this morning. Blake picked us up at DIA, and then we went to the Old Chicago’s downtown and had some lunch and beers. It was a very nice and relaxing lunch. Downtown was pretty quiet today which was a nice change from being in LA. After lunch Blake brought us over to Kelly’s parents and we surprised everyone here, I think the most common phrase was “What the hell are you doing here!”. Kelly and I ended up taking a two hour or so nap because we only managed to get about 3 hours of sleep last night, we are still pretty tired but its better then sleeping for 12 hours tomorrow.

We just got back from dinner at Qudoba with everyone and then we swung by Colorado Liquor Outlet to by some beer for tomorrow. The prices for wine and champagne here is outrageous. We were looking at a bottle of Moet Chandon (which we normally like to drink) and the price is nearly 16 dollars more per bottle then what we normally pay. I suppose that is one of the pluses of living in CA. So I think this evening we are going to relax and take it easy, perhaps watch a movie. I still don’t know what the plan is tomorrow but I think it will involve BBQ, I think I should make some calls, to see who is going to be available tomorrow.

Next week i need to figure out how I’m going to work some hours in the two days that we will be in CA before flying to MO to see my folks, maybe if I work one 12 hour day, and then work as late as i can on Thursday before I have to go to the airport I can get the hours in that I need, but if I have to take a day of vacation I will, its no big deal.

OK time for a beer and a movie.
