another much needed update

We left for Vegas Friday at noon. What should have taken 3,5-4 hours took 6. Once we got outside of Baker (80 mi. from Vegas) it was a parking lot. We only moved 5 miles in 45 minutes. It must be like this a lot because there were signs along the side that said ‘no parking’. We were making friends with people with their windows rolled down it was so dull out there – we were even offered a beer, although we declined. We finally got to Vegas and checked in to the Aladdin, asked for a free upgrade and she started quoting prices but she told us we’d be on a high floor. We ended up with a view that she must have been forced to say cost extra and saw the Bellagio fountain show every 15 minutes. We played Wheel of Fortune (WOL) slots for a little bit but since we hadn’t eaten since breakfast decided to wait in line for the Aladdin buffet, which is the best in Las Vegas. It was well worth the hour and a half wait. They have everything there, even more than 6 months ago. I was pleasantly surprised that they had added Greek food. The desserts are in need of some help, last time the guy made me a plate of chocolate covered strawberries but they didn’t look willing this time. After losing at the blackjack tables we headed over to Ballys & Paris and played awhile longer. Our biggest win was a $400 WOL spin but we ended up spending that too. Saturday we went and visited Casey’s Aunt Donna and his cousins. We had a good time and envied their house which is less than we pay in rent and bigger and their getting a pool at the end of this year. L.A. sucks! That night we went to the Palms, which neither of us are impressed with anymore they may have good restaurants and clubs but all of it’s overpriced with too long of a wait. Plus, their slots are tight and they have too much single-deck blackjack with a $10 minimum. Starving, we went to eh Palms buffet which sucked my ass. It was so disgusting there was no point in getting a second plate. 🙁 We left early Sunday and made in back home in 4.5 hours, not great but not as bad as on the way out. We’ll be back again in a month for the Howard Stern show at the Hard Rock so it was good we didn’t stay too long.

Sunday for Easter dinner we went to Megan and Jason and had a big dinner with them and some of their other friends. It was a great time and made being away from home more bearable.

Monday, cable and phone were both installed. Adelphia was running a special where you got all the Starz and the Showtimes for free for a year but somehow we ended up with EVERYTHING. Hopefully they don’t notice it and bill us for it. Oh well, their mistake.

Yesterday, I went to the commissary in preparation of starting the South Beach Diet today. Gotta love cheap groceries! A couple came by that were interested in our living room set that I had listed on Craigslist and today they came by and picked it up AND we made $150 out of the deal. Not bad since we were just going to donate in to Salvation Army. Our new furniture from Crate & Barrel won’t be here until Saturday so it’s sitting on the floor or in camping chairs till then. But after all we’ve been through that’s nothing. When Casey got home we went to ZGallerie and ordered our bedroom furniture. Unfortunately it won’t be here till the end of May but at least it’s ordered and we’ll have all the furniture we need except for the office, except for decorating. It sure does cost a lot of money to have a nice home. It’s worth it though after Kingsborough.

Now Casey’s cooking chicken catchitore for dinner and we’re going to finish up Season 3 of Sopranos.
