CA schools suck, work is good

Like Casey said, we ordered a TON of DVDs in the past few days. For those that are interested the code to enter to get your own 20% off order + free shipping = DVDTALK

The philosophy class I was taking (Religions of the West) apparently doesn’t meet the requirement for Cal State Northridge’s critical thinking requirement. And neither did the other critical thinking class I already have from UCCS. I found this out 2 days (Wednesday) before I could get a refund for the course. With the semester already under way, I’m scrambling to find a philosophy class for the summer that hasn’t already started so I can go back to school in the fall. I’m hoping I can find an online class but that looks like it’s going to be pretty hard to do here because they’re about 5 years behind everyone else and are just starting to offer online classes. So if this doesn’t work out I may take the summer off, take the one philosophy class in fall and then try to attend college here in the spring. My other option (that I found while searching last night) is to take the online degree program for CSU (that’s Colorado State University) that they offer that is a major in communications and public affairs. That’s a possibility and even with out of state tuition would be cheaper than tuition here. I’m gonna think about it over the weekend and hopefully come to a decision on Monday.

Work is good. I signed up with two other casting agencies yesterday. One of them (Central Casting) I had to wait at for 2.5 hours before I got to leave because there were SO many people there. Hopefully that’s a good sign, especially since they handle most extras casting for the network shows. The other one I signed up with (Sande Alessi Casting) was fast and she told me it’s not always like that, they had just landed a new project and it would pick up soon. I checked the work line when I got home and the “project” is the untitled Jennifer Aniston/Kevin Costner movie. How cool is that?! Monday I’m booked to work as a townie on ‘Carnivale’, Tuesday I work 9:30-6:30 at Geddes then go directly from there to Universal City Walk to film an episode of ‘Girls Behaving Badly’ which works from 7:30pm – 1:30am, Wenesday I work in the afternoon at Geddes, Thursday I get my headshots done in the morning (yah there was a cancellation and I get them 2 weeks early!), and Friday I work on ‘Girl Behaving Badly’ again at the Bel-Air Hotel. Busy busy!

Like Casey said we’ve got a recpetion to go to this evening. That should be interesting because I’ve only met these people once before. Alcohol loosens inhibitions, so as long as I’m not too loose things should might be more enjoyable. We’ll see.

I’m not sure if I’m ready to be without a car. It’s not that we can’t afford it. Casey’s just frustrated. We need to get our butts down to Toyota and get some of the stuff fixed on it and then see how it runs. Luckily the truck wouldn’t start at home, instead of leaving us stranded somewhere. There’s still a hose that needs to be fixed and the contact points need to be replaced. After that, it’s all bearable. The gas isn’t such an issue anyway since it doesn’t get that many miles put on it each day. Casey was going to take the bike to work yesterday but the tires were low so we have to get a pump for that. He managed to start the truck and it worked fine the rest of the day. Maybe we just need to take the hint and get some things fixed. I can’t imagine, even with Casey’s work being so close, being a couple that doesn’t have 2 cars. How much would that suck?! But ya never know.

We got woken up this morning by people at the office asking for our garage code from the back of our remote. They’re relentless and won’t stop bugging us. We still don’t know about the grill, the owner thinks it’s ok but wants to check with the safety inspector. Why would it be a problem on the roof, if it’s not a problem on people’s balconies? Another weekend without a grill.
