For Nicky & Alexis

Yesterday I went on a rush call IN COMPTON (it’s scary even in the daylight to be white, let alone blonde). Well of course someone gave me the wrong directions confusing where Santa Monica was located (uh, is that south of the airport?) and then giving me the directions to the wrong freeway (the 110 and the 10 are two different freeways MILES apart). So anyway I get down there 45 minutes late to work on ALIAS. I was supposed to be a photo double for some blonde chick who is either a regular on the show or a guest star. They brought two of us in and chose the other girl (she was older, shorter, shorter hair, and less curvy) but they kept me around in case something went wrong when she did her scenes. So I sat for 5 hours in a Compton cemetery next to graves in the grass IM’ing Casey. The book I brought to read, ‘The Agency’ was really dry and boring and I forgot headphones for my iPod. The cool thing is when I took the shuttle from the parking lot to the set, I got to sit behind Michael Vartan and he even talked to me. Jennifer Garner (or Jen as she likes to be called) was very accessible and friendly. She said Hi to me when I walked on set and then sat like 15 feet away reading her book and is a fellow diet cokehead. This is still going on my resume though cause I was there to work. I did prefer making a movie to doing television but some of that may have to do with the fact I was actually working, had something better than a port-a-potty, and was not in Compton. Well it’s an experience I won’t forget.

On the shuttle back to the car, I had a mini crisis thinking I had lost my keys. Fortunately they were just in a pocket I hadn’t checked yet. Don’t want to be lost in Compton after dark. There were already enough ghetto birds and sirens during the daytime (seriously). For those that are amused by this (I’m not being mean) there were 6 fried chicken places along Rosecrans from Compton to the 405 and 2 El Pollo Locos (do those count?). 😉

Note to self – watch Alias.
