Lots to say

After Wednesday’s episode of Smallville, I think it’s going back to where it should be with story lines. Hopefully they’ll be more episodes like that. I haven’t seen any improvement in Surviror yet. Casey’s pretty pissed that they voted off Brady but kept the one legged guy. Can I get a nigga’ please?! 😉

Things are going ok here. As you know, I was supposed to be working on Bewitched this past Thursday. Well it was this long process of calling to check-in every other day, then everyday, (as required) and then twice a day to find out if any new information was on the line. On Wednesday there was supposed to be information after 7 pm regarding wardrobe, location, and parking. Well at 9:30 I finally got through, first the info wasn’t posted and then it was busy. After listening to a 15 minute message on three different voicemail messages, I find out that the wardrobe is stuff I just don’t have and that I’ll have to cancel. Well Central Casting who I’d been hired by has a strict policy about cancellations so I hope I wasn’t blackballed but what was I gonna do when they didn’t post anything till 9:30 with a 6:00 am call time – there’s no Super Wal-Mart here so there’s nothing I can do. The required wardrobe was to look like Samantha from the TV show Bewitched – fitted slacks and a spring sweater set with flat loafers or dress flats the catch was (other than me not having sweater sets for spring only winter sweaters) that the colors had to be pastels and absolutely no red, white, black, royal blue, turquoise, bright colors, or bold patterns. And that was just one scene. We were told to bring 2 other outfits for other scenes and that one should be something we would wear to a wedding – spring floral dresses that are fitted with sleeves, nothing to bold or tight, nothing modern. The last outfit was something you’d wear to a party in the Hills. Well does that mean in the 50s or now?! The rationale behind three outfits was that there were three scenes they wanted us to be in. We were supposed to be young, Hollywood starlets on a studio lot auditioning for the role of Samantha (played by Nicole Kidman) in the new TV show Bewitched. After being pissed off about the last minute notice and unrealistic expectations, I called and cancelled and haven’t heard anything otherwise so hopefully all is good.

Since I was no longer working on Bewitched and had already had Brenda covering my shift, I got to sleep in (well till 9:30) – I’m getting so old. Megan and I got to have a girls day out starting with lunch together that we’ve been talking about for the last month at Grand Luxe (sister property of the Cheesecake Factory) and shopping at Old Navy. I bought way too much stuff and am taking quite a few things back and exchanging others for different sizes. I got Casey started on his new skinny wardrobe (he’s lost 15 pounds since the end of August/beginning of September) by buying him 4 pairs of new jeans and a new long sleeve button down.

Yesterday I worked my usual shift and Ann was back from Chicago. She’s told me twice recently that it’s my job to let her know how the other employees and interns are doing. I guess that’s why I got a raise. Does that make me office manager now? The official title would look pretty good on my resume because I’m already considered front office manager and trainer to the interns. My morning intern, Shipra, is leaving the week before Thanksgiving but I should be ok through the holidays without her because the town is pretty much gonna be shut down between there and after New Years so the office will be closed a lot anyway. Things are going pretty good at work other than that I only wish I got more hours, especially now that I’m making more money. I may start looking for either another part time job or a full-time job that has some flexibility after the holidays or after we get back from Hawaii in February (which I finally bought tickets for today. I was a little productive).

Casey got the mole cut off the side of his head yesterday because he keeps nicking it when he shaves his head. I guess the doctor ended up giving him two shots of numbing medication cause she gave him the first shot and then starting slicing it off with the razor blade and he’s like “Agh, that kills!” So she gave him another shot and all is well except he has to keep a band-aid and cotton ball on the side of his till it heals and hopefully he won’t have a scab.

I picked up a few of my holds that came into the library yesterday after work – Diary by Chuck Palahniuk (author of Fight Club) and To Have and to Hold by Jane Green. I’ve been slacking on the reading as compared with Alison’s feverish pace. I have more books checked out than I can read or listen to in 3 weeks but I just keep adding more to my queue. *Rachel – I have your book burned now and will get it out in the mail this week. Sorry it took so long but it’s finally ready to go, along with the pictures I promised you in July.*

I think Casey and I are going to buy an upright exercise bike for our apartment. We went to Sportsmart (owned by Sports Authority) yesterday to look at them and the one we want seems pretty reasonable. We have it narrowed down to two but are gonna go back tomorrow and make the final decision. Doug, the first male intern at Geddes, has further convinced that we are paying WAY too much for our ‘Y’ membership so I think we’re gonna get up early this week and try to talk to the guy that originally quoted us a lower price. We’re paying more than we would at 24 Hour Fitness and they’re a ton better cause we’ve got the “family plan” which is supposed to be for people that have kids, we should have the “adult + 1” plan. Grrr, I hate having money taken away from me like that. We’ll still go to the gym for weights and stuff but this’ll be nice cause then we can do it in the mornings without having to get up even earlier to brush our teeth or walk to the gym. It’ll be a good investment if we’re not like those people that buy exercise equipment and then just sits in a room as a place to store things on (you know who you are).

Last night after an hour and a half drive and forgetting directions which led to me getting lost in San Pedro for another half hour (I did manage to get ahold of Randi and talk to her for part of my journey down there.), I finally made it to my Nicky’s jewelry party. Gotta love the 405 during Friday rush hour! Her and her best friend, Alexis, have begun designing their own jewelry (necklaces, earrings, and bracelets) using glass beads. There’s a link on our site to the left and on her site you can see her jewelry collection if you’re interested. I ended up buying a necklace and a bracelet. They had awesome results! After the hellacious drive, I opted to hang around with Nicky and her friends as opposed to making the drive back right away. Doug told me I should just say “I’ve gotta go have drinks with the fags now.” (Sorry if anyone takes offense. You all know I normally don’t use THAT word but he can and that’s a direct quote.)

Today we haven’t done a thing. Casey hasn’t even showered and has been playing Fable on Xbox all day. I’ve managed to get some cleaning done but otherwise have been glued to my laptop as always. Maybe we’ll be social and productive tomorrow.

Although I’ve been bad and haven’t made it to the gym at all this week because of working long hours, I have worn heels 4 of the last 5 days (including hiking down to Lindsey’s house from where I parked my car). Today calves and feet are pretty sore and getting a much needed break. My fualt I know but the shoes are super cute and I couldn’t do that in Colorado at this time of year. I am looking forward to going to Missouri and Colorado during the holidays. It’ll be a nice break from the city and getting to just chill and enjoy being with family and friends in normal surroundings. Don’t get me wrong I love our apartment for the most part but this city is wearing on me (see the drive on the 405 last night for more information).

Tomorrow we’re TiVo’ing the Nascar race on NBC because Marvin & Sally are supposed to be in the stands. Casey’s trying to figure out a way he can watch the football games and still TiVo but it’s not looking like it’s gonna happen. Any suggestions? Then for the Broncos game, we’re gonna have to be on the look out for John & Alison – you better wear your new pink, pea coat to stand out!
