Pictures

I’ve spent all weekend going through my iPhoto library trying to pare down our photos. I only had 4gb left on my hard drive and figured it was time. I’ve learned that I have a hard time deleting pics as soon as I upload them even if they’re blurry. I’ve found quite a few duplicates and have deleted 5gb of pics so far. I’m nowhere near finished but I’d say I’m off to a good start. When I’m finished with this project it looks like we’ll be getting a Picasa account/paid membership to store all our photos on so there won’t be a single point of failure if something were to happen to my laptop (we have the Time Capsule but that could likely stop working or be stolen too).

We drove down to San Antonio this afternoon for lunch. Casey’s friend from boot camp, another Kevin, was in town from Memphis and they hadn’t seen each other since they were in boot camp. We had a great time hanging out and eating monster burgers (at least they had the 1-pounders) at Tycoon Flats. It was 5 hours round trip but well worth it because it might be another 12 years before Casey gets to see this Kevin again. Side note: we’re going to have an interesting time differentiating all the different friends in our life with the same name (ex: Kevin) when Brady gets a little older – hopefully the names of wives/girlfriends will help make things easier to differentiate.

We’ve been using Picasa for a while (mostly for easier email ability and blogging of photos – plus there is a Picasa plugin for WP now), and I just upgraded to the 200GB of online storage for $50 a year last week. I’ve noticed that Picasa locks up sometimes when it’s syncing photos, and doesn’t always sync exactly right when you make changes to an album. Also, it takes a long time to get it uploaded the first time – obviously. So far I only have 2006 uploaded. I’ve been reorganizing everything prior to that according to date taken which was tough with a lot of scanned photos. Anyway, I like it, but it’s not perfect.
