Canceled…again

I canceled cable again. Not as in twice since we’ve been in Texas but as in twice in the last year. The first time we were trying to cut back and save money because we didn’t know what was going to happen with Casey’s job and it was summer and nothing was on TV anyway. And this time, well saving money is good especially considering at least half of the channels we were paying for never came in and Time Warner is pretty inept at coinciding peacefully with TiVo. The TiVo will live on and Time Warner has reached the end of its road. I made sure to reiterate three separate times with the lady at Time Warner that I did NOT want our internet turned off ONLY the cable TV. She assured me the internet would stay in tact but I’ve heard that before and it inevitably involves another service call which they’ll try to bill us for even though it’s not our fault. So fingers crossed it all works out. And hopefully Uverse will be available in our neck of the woods soon so we’ll have an alternative. Back to Time Warner, the lady on the phone said within 48 hours cable would be disconnected to the house and I had 5 business days to return the equipment. After Brady’s nap I packed up all their equipment and made the drive over. When we got there they were on number 84 – I got 18. I sat there for about 5 minutes before wandering around and checking out some drop box. I wasn’t sure since I had a DVR, cable card, digital adapter, etc if I could drop something in there like that but a security guard was kind enough to offer assistance since it was slow going with Brady Bjorned to me and it made for a pretty painless trip.

On the way home I stopped by a different Target (than one of the two I usually go to). I had tried to go to my usual Target last week to exchange these cute little pink skull moccasins Justin and Robin got Brady for her birthday but they were all out of the next size up. Luckily, this one had one left and it was in her size! Perfect timing since it was so cold today.

Speaking of the cold, I was told twice today (by different people) that I brought the cold from Colorado here with me. They were both at the new doctor I went and got established with today. Casey worked from home today to watch Brady while I was gone so while there I made the most of the visit and tried to get as much covered as possible so I wouldn’t have to return. The new doctor is very thorough as far as I can tell. I got my H1N1 shot and am on the waiting list to get the adult dTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis) as soon they get more in. Brady’s pediatrician in Colorado suggested this to Casey and I last year so that we could make sure we were healthy and help protect Brady even more. Apparently, it’s been found that childhood vaccinations for these often wear off by adulthood and there’s been outbreaks of pertussis (whooping cough) in this area so just to be on the safe side I’m gonna get it. Brady has an appointment Thursday for her H1N1 booster and then we’ll just need to get Casey scheduled to get established with the new doc so he can get the shot too.

The Biggest Loser premiered tonight. For the first time since we’ve been watching (we’re on our third season) I was unable to pick at least one person to root for. Hopefully things get better. If not, I have LOST and Survivor to look forward to!
