We’re Not Dead Yet

I guess I should do my typical preface by saying I’m a slacker by not posting in a couple of weeks. What can I say? I have two kids.

Our passports finally came in about ten days ago. We’re all ready to go. Since we have these babies, we’re antsy and ready to get traveling! Hopefully we manage to get lots of passport stamps in the upcoming year!

Dude had his 10 week check up and everything looks good with him. When he went (Aug. 14) he only weighed 15.4 pounds, he’s now up to 21 pounds. He is *such* a chow hound. Whereas Stoli knows the difference between edible and inedible, he’s still a little confused and is ingesting everything from mulch to dried worms and cardboard. Fortunately his potty training is progressing quite well and he is almost potty trained at 13 weeks (as of this past Sunday). He’s averaging one accident a day but on Tuesday he was accident free! I realized by putting up the gate to keep him contained it makes it harder for him to let me know when he’s got to go potty so the gate has switched locations to hopefully alleviate this little issue. I’ve already taught him “sit”, “shake”, “down”, “up”, and kind of “crawl”. He’s actually doing a lot better than we expected. We didn’t get Stoli till she was 16 weeks so that he’s doing so well so early is just awesome!

Happy Belated Birthday (on here anyway) to my Dad! We celebrated by eating a seafood lunch and seeing The Bourne Ultimatum with the entire family! The food was OK (I guess we’re spoiled with all of that fresh seafood last summer) and the movie was pretty great (although I’ve heard it’s not as great as the book I’ve heard)! Even when I knew that nothing detrimental would happen, I was still on the edge of my seat. Thus far, all of the movies we’ve seen this summer have been worth the ticket price!

I finished the newest Harry Potter in about 3 days. Not a record by any means and I waited till Casey was finished before even starting. I loved the new book! I just can’t wait to see the movie but hope they’ll be able to do it justice since it won’t come out for another 3 years (the kids are already 18 and in last book they are 17). I actually finally read “Fight Club” and I have to say that the movie is much more graphic and just as good as the book I think. As far as books go, I think it’s good but when you’ve seen the movie already, you’re just not missing much.

Hell’s Kitchen ended two weeks ago and I’m already missing my Monday night programming. I’m bummed that Bonnie didn’t win because, although I usually like cockiness (ala Richard Hatch), Rock was just so angry all the time so this time I was just not satisfied with the outcome.

Design Star is moving quite fast this season. My favorite, Christina, left two weeks ago. Of the remaining I like Will Smith and the surfer guy but any of them could win and I would be ok. It’s just not as clear cut as last season between David and Alice (who after David’s horrible show, I wish Alice would have won).

I cannot wait for fall shows to start. Except for Top Chef all of the other shows I’ve been watching this summer have ended. We watch way more TV than a lot of our friends and family seem to so this will really fill our social calendar up!

We bought a guest bed! We have a queen pillow-top, mattress and linens in the guest room and we’re excited that people (cough only Joe, so far) won’t have to sleep on the sofa sleeper)!

We have a lot of trips coming up for the rest of the year so updates may be even less frequent than they already are. If anything, I’ll still try to post pics. Speaking of which, new pics are now in the gallery and the kids clothes are courtesy of Uncle Joe!
