Unproductive Weekend

So we started out this weekend with every intention of getting the back stairs from the sliding glass doors completed and our bedroom accent wall done.  Neither of these happened completely.  Casey was on call this week and had to do maintenance alone no Saturday which ended up lasting much longer than he had planned.  It wasn’t until after 2 we were finally able to leave the house to go get lunch at the Spicy Pickle and then we were going to head to the rental place to pick up the electric jackhammer and get the concrete stairs busted out.  As we were waiting for our food to be brought to our table, Casey got paged so we had head back home after lunch.  The rental place closed at 5 and we didn’t think we’d have enough time to pick up the jackhammer, let Casey answer all of the tickets (more came in on the way home) and return the jackhammer within the window we were given.  I decided to take a nap when we got home and Casey was planning to join me since he’d been up since 6 but kept getting paged and never made it to nap.  He didn’t even finish everything with work until 6p.

Yesterday I let Casey sleep in while I got up.  I tried doing prenatal pilates on Saturday morning and was super sore when I woke up Sunday and didn’t really sleep that great the night before.  I was able to make cinnamon rolls and juice, do two loads of laundry, clean the kitchen and living room, and take a shower before Casey got woken up by another page.  We left the house at 11 to pick up the jackhammer which ended up being a pretty quick and painless process.  There was a two hour minimum rental but we were hoping to get done way before then and would have had the jackhammer not stopped working 3/4 into the job.  So we had to load the 60 pound beast and all of the accessories back up and switch it out for another one.  Then we came home so Casey could finish breaking up the top step and busting the pieces into smaller bits.

Finally we were able to meet my parents at Qdoba for a late lunch.  After lunch we went to Lowes to get the supplies that were needed for the stairs and the new paint color for our bedroom wall.  We didn’t get home till 3:30 and because of the dwindling daylight I only managed to get the two coats of primer on before calling it a day.  It took two coats of primer because the previous owners had painted the wall smoldering coals (red with an orangish hue).  Casey and I didn’t think it would be too appealing in the bedroom for all potential buyers and it didn’t match our linens so when staging the hosue it would have looked out of place too so that’s why we’re covering it up.  The paint we chose is a mocha/coffee color (I don’t remember the actual name) to complement the soft camel on the other walls.  The plan now is to paint the accent wall on Wednesday and hopefully get that all done.

Casey and my dad were prepared to get the steps done when we got back but shortly after they got started, the battery in the drill died and the backup was also dead.  The battery has been charging all night and Casey’s going to try and get the stairs finished today.  Now that there are no stairs the need to put in new stairs is pretty urgent since lifting Stoli in and out of the house (especially in the middle of the night) is no fun.  Dude has longer legs so has no problem jumping in and out.  In fact, I think he actually kind of likes it.  When that’s done the yard will be *almost* done but we still need to add 2-4 more rows to the patio and buy a ton of rock to fill in the rest of where the deck used to be.  We’re making progress but this is turning into the never ending project that we’re regretting we even started.

In other news, I had been feeling flutters and a little kick here and there for a couple of weeks before last week (21 weeks).  Then last week I started feeling several kicks and stronger several times a day.  Casey was even able to feel it on Tuesday!  Some days I have to press on my belly a little bit to get her to move (Casey’s afraid I’m going to poke her eye out) but she’s getting more active every day.  This morning she’s been kicking and moving around for the last 2-3 hours!  I love it!
