Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday to Sara and Stoli! We’re celebrating Sara’s birthday with her at her new house this Saturday so hopefully lots of pics to post of that. Stoli turned THREE YEARS OLD today! We’re having Nana, Papa Jim, Grandma, and Grandpa over for her party tonight and this year’s theme is Tinkerbell! As opposed to previous years where I’ve made her tasty human snacks this year she’ll get her very own cake (well she’ll have to share with Dude) made of dog-friendly ingredients! Then the rest of us will get the tasty cupcakes I’ll be whipping up later this afternoon. I’ll post pics of the festivities soon but for now here’s some pics of Stoli I’ve taken in the past couple of days (including today).

Perhaps the funniest video I have ever seen!

This gal is just plain crazy, some cursing so don’t let your dogs hear it.

I hate Britney Spears so much, I would give my last paycheck to meet this gal and give her a boot to the head to alter her reality.

New Layout

So I was finally sick and tired of PHPNuke getting hacked by every script kiddie out there, so I’m going with a new CMS system. We will see how long this lasts. So over the next few days as I find the time I will be migrating old content to the new system.

Update:

I’m going to attempt to put in a new shoutbox but that was a large source of the spam that we were plagued with while using PHPNuke.  Also I will continue to migrate the old albums to the new interface…maybe.  I rather like being able to place albums inline with new posts.  Also I will look through the large list of themes then do some custom artwork for them to give it a more custom feel.  But I have a RISS class staring next Monday for two weeks.

Thanks to James for showing me WordPress, this CMS is much more enjoyable to use then PHPNuke, and allows for much more dynamic content.  Off to play some WoW and Guitar Hero 2.

OMG Guitar Hero II

[youtube=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8wfdgY5ZYDk]

So Kelly and I have been playing Guitar Hero 2, we can barely beat the game on Easy, I can only imagine the time it takes to do something like this.   Maybe James has taken this one on before…

We’re Not Dead Yet

I guess I should do my typical preface by saying I’m a slacker by not posting in a couple of weeks. What can I say? I have two kids.

Our passports finally came in about ten days ago. We’re all ready to go. Since we have these babies, we’re antsy and ready to get traveling! Hopefully we manage to get lots of passport stamps in the upcoming year!

Dude had his 10 week check up and everything looks good with him. When he went (Aug. 14) he only weighed 15.4 pounds, he’s now up to 21 pounds. He is *such* a chow hound. Whereas Stoli knows the difference between edible and inedible, he’s still a little confused and is ingesting everything from mulch to dried worms and cardboard. Fortunately his potty training is progressing quite well and he is almost potty trained at 13 weeks (as of this past Sunday). He’s averaging one accident a day but on Tuesday he was accident free! I realized by putting up the gate to keep him contained it makes it harder for him to let me know when he’s got to go potty so the gate has switched locations to hopefully alleviate this little issue. I’ve already taught him “sit”, “shake”, “down”, “up”, and kind of “crawl”. He’s actually doing a lot better than we expected. We didn’t get Stoli till she was 16 weeks so that he’s doing so well so early is just awesome!

Happy Belated Birthday (on here anyway) to my Dad! We celebrated by eating a seafood lunch and seeing The Bourne Ultimatum with the entire family! The food was OK (I guess we’re spoiled with all of that fresh seafood last summer) and the movie was pretty great (although I’ve heard it’s not as great as the book I’ve heard)! Even when I knew that nothing detrimental would happen, I was still on the edge of my seat. Thus far, all of the movies we’ve seen this summer have been worth the ticket price!

I finished the newest Harry Potter in about 3 days. Not a record by any means and I waited till Casey was finished before even starting. I loved the new book! I just can’t wait to see the movie but hope they’ll be able to do it justice since it won’t come out for another 3 years (the kids are already 18 and in last book they are 17). I actually finally read “Fight Club” and I have to say that the movie is much more graphic and just as good as the book I think. As far as books go, I think it’s good but when you’ve seen the movie already, you’re just not missing much.

Hell’s Kitchen ended two weeks ago and I’m already missing my Monday night programming. I’m bummed that Bonnie didn’t win because, although I usually like cockiness (ala Richard Hatch), Rock was just so angry all the time so this time I was just not satisfied with the outcome.

Design Star is moving quite fast this season. My favorite, Christina, left two weeks ago. Of the remaining I like Will Smith and the surfer guy but any of them could win and I would be ok. It’s just not as clear cut as last season between David and Alice (who after David’s horrible show, I wish Alice would have won).

I cannot wait for fall shows to start. Except for Top Chef all of the other shows I’ve been watching this summer have ended. We watch way more TV than a lot of our friends and family seem to so this will really fill our social calendar up!

We bought a guest bed! We have a queen pillow-top, mattress and linens in the guest room and we’re excited that people (cough only Joe, so far) won’t have to sleep on the sofa sleeper)!

We have a lot of trips coming up for the rest of the year so updates may be even less frequent than they already are. If anything, I’ll still try to post pics. Speaking of which, new pics are now in the gallery and the kids clothes are courtesy of Uncle Joe!

Second photo post this week

I posted more pics of the kids from yesterday. I was able to get a lot of great ones of them playing. I only wish our camera was faster to keep up with them! They’re pretty cute and you can definitely tell that Stoli is the dominant one but Dude is trying hard to take over for her.

Last night we got more rain. Its been like torrential downpour for the last few days. Casey’s Aunt Donna was driving through with a friend on her way to Kansas City and we met up with her for dinner last night. She was staying at a hotel in Manitou so we ended up eating at Meadow Mufinns in Old Colorado City. I was not impressed with it at all. It was self service meaning you had to take your order to the window in the kitchen and go to the bar to get your drinks but it was nice that we were able to catch up on her short stay through town.

I’m so disappointed with Hell’s Kitchen this week. I’ve thought for the last week that Monday’s episode would be the last. FOX really managed to drag things out and it won’t be until this coming Monday. I hate that we have to wait so long. Casey and I are both rooting for Bonnie and hopefully the challenge she won this week is a good omen for her. Rock just has too bad of an attitude and acts like he deserves it. He’s from Spotsylvania, Virginia which we only lived like 20 minutes from and is not a big deal. He probably works as the executive chef at the Cracker Barrel along I-95. I really wish that John Phileppe would have allowed him to go ahead with his blue jean idea for the wait staff so Bonnie would be a shoo in. Should be interesting how things unfold. I’m excited for tonight’s episode of Top Chef and hope that Hung or Howie finally gets the axe. I’m up to three favorites on the show now – Trey, Casey, and Dale. There’s still like 9 of them left so no finale for that show anytime soon.

Update on the Kids

It seems that Stoli has made a full recovery. I can’t tell you how much lunch meat we had to buy to get her to eat pills. She wouldn’t eat wet dog food. Now that she’s feeling better she does not let Dude get away with biting her anymore either. It started out that she’d get really pissed off but since Thursday they’ve been playing several times a day. It’s hilarious! Dude will nibble on her face and bark at her and she’ll grab a hold of one of his legs and pin him or just knock him over with her butt! I’m glad they seem to be adjusting to each other much better now.

Dude hasn’t quite mastered the art of climbing on the couch and will cry if you don’t pick him up so he can get up there. He hates being in his crate but has been doing pretty well with it considering his age. I have to make an appointment for his 10 week check-up this week. I weighed him this morning and he’s a little over 12 pounds now. The boy loves to eat. I just pulled him inside from under the deck where he was eating dirt. He still hasn’t quite outgrown his biting but it is getting better. Manageable at least.

I still haven’t started Harry Potter yet. Casey got frustrated waiting for me and has already made it probably 1/3 of the way through. I can’t wait to get started but I picked up three holds from the library a week and a half ago that I had been on the waiting list for for months. I’ve read two of the three and then I’ll be ready for Harry!

We were going to go see the new Bourne movie this weekend but didn’t make it. Hopefully we’ll get to see it next weekend at the latest. If we manage to see it we’ll be up to our third movie in the theater this summer. I think this beats last summer only seeing X3 and Superman. We’ve been keeping on top of our Netflix recently and are on the last season (three) of Arrested Development which is such a great show. We tried watching The Number 23 but as high of hopes as I had for the movie after 45 minutes of watching I just had to give up because it was an incoherent mess. We watched Zodiac all the way through and while it was disappointing and drawn out it was worth watching. I just can’t wait for the fall season to start up so I can get my TV addiction satisfied.
