One more to go…. well almost

So I passed another Microsoft test, 70-218 this time, only one more for my MCSA. I think I’m going to take 70-216 now, its supposed to be the toughest of the core exams (or so they say). I picked up a book to help me start studying.

Well not quite that book, but a Microsoft Press book for 70-216, I really don’t think I would have a problem with the test if I just went in a took it, but I want to be sure with this one.

I have slacked off from the gym as of l ate. I’m just to lazy to get off my ass when I get home, but I’m still watching what I eat so my weight is still staying low.

Kevin came out this week to do a Veritas upgrade at work so we went out and got hammered one evening. Three pitchers of beer and 70 wings at Hooters, and then to the British Pub across the street for some more drinks, 6 or 7 Guinesses later we finally went home. Made for a rough day on Wednesday. Anyway we had a good time when Kevin was out, who knows maybe we will get to see him more sometime soon.

Last night we went over to Megan and Jason’s place to watch the Cards / Astro’s game and have some pizza and beers. We played our first game of spades in a long time, and then when that was over a few hands of poker. Had a great time (as always!). Oh and the Cardinals WON in case you didn’t catch it. SOX SUCK!!

OK its time to go cook dinner, and then watch some movies or TV…..

He who breaks the law goes back to the…..

Yawn…. I coudn’t really sleep this morning, I kept waking up at odd times, so when the alarm finally went off I hit the snooze a couple of times and just tried to sleep. Wasn’t happening. Jumped in the shower and then rolled into work about 30 minutes early. I have a pantload of stuff to to today. Kevin is here upgrading us to Veritas 5.1 which will be great to learn, I have a pantload of images I have to make for various projects, so that means writing up sysprep.inf files for all the drivers I have. Loads of fun.

I did manage to master the CSVDE (LDIFDE) command last week while trying to import about 1000 users into Active Directory, it took me about three hours to properly format a CSV file to populate all the Active Directory fields. I remember using this command quite a bit earlier this year but I forgot everything from then and had to start from scratch with which fields were necessary to import to properly creat a user and format the names.

I scheduled another MCSE test, I opted for an easy one now instead of the hard one. I decided on 70-218 because from everything anyone has told me this is the easiest test by far, and it will still count for both my MCSE and MCSA, so on Thursday I’m gonna go take that one. I’m trying to avoid taking 70-216 because it is supposed to be one of the hardest tests that you have to take for your Microsoft Certification, so I will probably have to acutally study for that one. Who knows maybe I can actually get my MCSA before my review this year and actually get my big raise.

OK I got tons of stuff to do this morning before Kevin makes it in.

A case of the Mondays

I hate this effin’ building!!! While I like my aparment the other people that live here and the management company are such crap! The neighbor is lying to the mangement company saying he’s talked to me WHEN HE HASN’T and is saying I’ll be available WHEN I WON’T and he’s the one that keeps flaking out. Sorry, quick rant there. There’s more to it than that but that’s enough to get me pissed again!

Work is fine, I was alone today so a little busier than normal. I haven’t been given the afternoon shifts yet. 🙁 But I’m hoping maybe after the new year.

We looked at bikes again yesterday and couldn’t find anything. The one we were originally gonna get – they’re out of and only have floor models left (with no discount) then the one up from that is triple the price (yeah no thanks) so we’re gonna keep looking. Damn no Gart Sprts, REI, or Galyans!!! We WILL get something though, oh yes we WILL get something!

Casey made some mean chicken parm for Kevin and I tonight for dinner (evilness). He likes to show off his culinary sklls, which I don’t mind. Nowi I’ll be surviving on veggies and water till the swelling goes down. 😉 We’ve come to the conclusion that expensive isn’t always better. After trying several Cabs we’ve come back to Two Buck Chuck for our wine of choice. You can bet our moving truck is gonne be filled with cases of that when we finally move.

Um, let’s see what else, I got my acceptance papers for CSU yesterday. Now I’ve just gotta make sure they realize it’s online and I won’t be there at the campus so no need to request my shot records. If this works out without too much drama I’ll be extremely relieved after all the usual stuff I deal with.

Thanks to Marvin, Sally, and the dogs for the sweet birthday card! Can’t wait to see everyone next month!

Eyes buring, must go to sleep….

Posting

Um yeah I’m posting even though I don’t really have anything to say. We just got back from Nicky’s and watching Survivor. I guess they’ve been having phantom computer problems that are scared away whenever Casey shows up. 😉 We had a belated mini birthday celebration with french apple pie and ice cream and Nicky made me some earrings, bracelet, and a bookmark! Thanks Stade family! I got my haircut today at the Vidal Sassoon salon in Beverly Hills by one of the apprentices. He insisted on giving me layers all over cause that’s where his level of training is at but it looks really good although very sleek right now, hopefully some body will come back to it after a few washes. He did mention how fast my hair has been growing, indicated by my obvious roots which I plan to get touched up soon. I finally got everything imported into Quicken so saving lots of money here we come – or at least that’s what I’m hoping. No bigs plans this weekend, if it stays hot we may go to the beach but they’re calling for rain. I’ve heard that before but a girl can’t help wishing for it.

CherryOS

Yesterday I read an article on /. about Cherry OS a new Mac on Windows emulator that claims as much as 80 percent of your PC power in OS X. Their claim goes something like this….

“CherryOS has been tuned for performance. You can expect to get about 80% of your processors power when working in the Apple Environment. For example a 3.2ghz P4 would run as fast as a 800 MHz G4 machine.”

I don’t know about you but an 800MHz G4 is about 25% as fast as a 3.2GHz P4 (checking math). Personally I think its vaporware considering a quick google search of the product gives no valid hits, but the idea I think is great.

I have spent the last week working on all the laptops that we have in the office and trying to come up with a solution for all the viruses that we keep getting infected with, Sasser, MyDoom, Netsky everything. Endusers are idiots. The previous internet administrator was an idiot. Hopefully we will have this new internet domain up and running in the next week or two, and I should be able to finish rolling this image together.

OK back to work, I have some CDs to go burn and some laptops to update.

Happy birthday to me!

Kelly with 4 dozen roses and a bottle of ’96 Dom Perignon.

I’ve had a really good day (other than working of course, but since I like my job it wasn’t that bad). But I got to come home to 4 dozen pink & red roses split into 2 vases of 22 each. 🙂 I have the best husband ever! I was pulling a paper out of my ass (that I got an A+) when Casey got home. Then he shocked me with a bottle of Dom which we just finished (Moet is just as good for thos that are itnerested but it was fun to try!). Before dinner we went shopping and I got a pair of jeans and tee from A&F and a tracksuit that’ll be comfy for travelling in the next couple of months from Old Navy. Then we went to a yummy dinner at Houston’s and got red meat for the first time in a month and a half and I had some yummy champagne and wine! Woo hoo! Better than last years champage. 😉 **My parents got me a super cute jewelry box and then I want to thank everyone else for gifts, emails, calls, and IMs yesterday!** It was a very good birthday! 🙂

Happy Birthday!!!!!

Today is Kelly’s birthday, no Las Vegas this year, but hopefully it will be somewhere near as fun (as fun as it can get seeing that she has to work today.)

So its official, I have lost something close to 32 pounds in 7 months for a new lowest total of……….

I RULE

Yeah I need to get my body fat percentage down a bit more but hopefully that won’t be a problem once I start mixing in some weight training with our cardio workouts.

OK I gots to go to work. Everyone should call and wish Kelly a Happy Birthday, or at least IM her.

Nooch

Lots to say

After Wednesday’s episode of Smallville, I think it’s going back to where it should be with story lines. Hopefully they’ll be more episodes like that. I haven’t seen any improvement in Surviror yet. Casey’s pretty pissed that they voted off Brady but kept the one legged guy. Can I get a nigga’ please?! 😉

Things are going ok here. As you know, I was supposed to be working on Bewitched this past Thursday. Well it was this long process of calling to check-in every other day, then everyday, (as required) and then twice a day to find out if any new information was on the line. On Wednesday there was supposed to be information after 7 pm regarding wardrobe, location, and parking. Well at 9:30 I finally got through, first the info wasn’t posted and then it was busy. After listening to a 15 minute message on three different voicemail messages, I find out that the wardrobe is stuff I just don’t have and that I’ll have to cancel. Well Central Casting who I’d been hired by has a strict policy about cancellations so I hope I wasn’t blackballed but what was I gonna do when they didn’t post anything till 9:30 with a 6:00 am call time – there’s no Super Wal-Mart here so there’s nothing I can do. The required wardrobe was to look like Samantha from the TV show Bewitched – fitted slacks and a spring sweater set with flat loafers or dress flats the catch was (other than me not having sweater sets for spring only winter sweaters) that the colors had to be pastels and absolutely no red, white, black, royal blue, turquoise, bright colors, or bold patterns. And that was just one scene. We were told to bring 2 other outfits for other scenes and that one should be something we would wear to a wedding – spring floral dresses that are fitted with sleeves, nothing to bold or tight, nothing modern. The last outfit was something you’d wear to a party in the Hills. Well does that mean in the 50s or now?! The rationale behind three outfits was that there were three scenes they wanted us to be in. We were supposed to be young, Hollywood starlets on a studio lot auditioning for the role of Samantha (played by Nicole Kidman) in the new TV show Bewitched. After being pissed off about the last minute notice and unrealistic expectations, I called and cancelled and haven’t heard anything otherwise so hopefully all is good.

Since I was no longer working on Bewitched and had already had Brenda covering my shift, I got to sleep in (well till 9:30) – I’m getting so old. Megan and I got to have a girls day out starting with lunch together that we’ve been talking about for the last month at Grand Luxe (sister property of the Cheesecake Factory) and shopping at Old Navy. I bought way too much stuff and am taking quite a few things back and exchanging others for different sizes. I got Casey started on his new skinny wardrobe (he’s lost 15 pounds since the end of August/beginning of September) by buying him 4 pairs of new jeans and a new long sleeve button down.

Yesterday I worked my usual shift and Ann was back from Chicago. She’s told me twice recently that it’s my job to let her know how the other employees and interns are doing. I guess that’s why I got a raise. Does that make me office manager now? The official title would look pretty good on my resume because I’m already considered front office manager and trainer to the interns. My morning intern, Shipra, is leaving the week before Thanksgiving but I should be ok through the holidays without her because the town is pretty much gonna be shut down between there and after New Years so the office will be closed a lot anyway. Things are going pretty good at work other than that I only wish I got more hours, especially now that I’m making more money. I may start looking for either another part time job or a full-time job that has some flexibility after the holidays or after we get back from Hawaii in February (which I finally bought tickets for today. I was a little productive).

Casey got the mole cut off the side of his head yesterday because he keeps nicking it when he shaves his head. I guess the doctor ended up giving him two shots of numbing medication cause she gave him the first shot and then starting slicing it off with the razor blade and he’s like “Agh, that kills!” So she gave him another shot and all is well except he has to keep a band-aid and cotton ball on the side of his till it heals and hopefully he won’t have a scab.

I picked up a few of my holds that came into the library yesterday after work – Diary by Chuck Palahniuk (author of Fight Club) and To Have and to Hold by Jane Green. I’ve been slacking on the reading as compared with Alison’s feverish pace. I have more books checked out than I can read or listen to in 3 weeks but I just keep adding more to my queue. *Rachel – I have your book burned now and will get it out in the mail this week. Sorry it took so long but it’s finally ready to go, along with the pictures I promised you in July.*

I think Casey and I are going to buy an upright exercise bike for our apartment. We went to Sportsmart (owned by Sports Authority) yesterday to look at them and the one we want seems pretty reasonable. We have it narrowed down to two but are gonna go back tomorrow and make the final decision. Doug, the first male intern at Geddes, has further convinced that we are paying WAY too much for our ‘Y’ membership so I think we’re gonna get up early this week and try to talk to the guy that originally quoted us a lower price. We’re paying more than we would at 24 Hour Fitness and they’re a ton better cause we’ve got the “family plan” which is supposed to be for people that have kids, we should have the “adult + 1” plan. Grrr, I hate having money taken away from me like that. We’ll still go to the gym for weights and stuff but this’ll be nice cause then we can do it in the mornings without having to get up even earlier to brush our teeth or walk to the gym. It’ll be a good investment if we’re not like those people that buy exercise equipment and then just sits in a room as a place to store things on (you know who you are).

Last night after an hour and a half drive and forgetting directions which led to me getting lost in San Pedro for another half hour (I did manage to get ahold of Randi and talk to her for part of my journey down there.), I finally made it to my Nicky’s jewelry party. Gotta love the 405 during Friday rush hour! Her and her best friend, Alexis, have begun designing their own jewelry (necklaces, earrings, and bracelets) using glass beads. There’s a link on our site to the left and on her site you can see her jewelry collection if you’re interested. I ended up buying a necklace and a bracelet. They had awesome results! After the hellacious drive, I opted to hang around with Nicky and her friends as opposed to making the drive back right away. Doug told me I should just say “I’ve gotta go have drinks with the fags now.” (Sorry if anyone takes offense. You all know I normally don’t use THAT word but he can and that’s a direct quote.)

Today we haven’t done a thing. Casey hasn’t even showered and has been playing Fable on Xbox all day. I’ve managed to get some cleaning done but otherwise have been glued to my laptop as always. Maybe we’ll be social and productive tomorrow.

Although I’ve been bad and haven’t made it to the gym at all this week because of working long hours, I have worn heels 4 of the last 5 days (including hiking down to Lindsey’s house from where I parked my car). Today calves and feet are pretty sore and getting a much needed break. My fualt I know but the shoes are super cute and I couldn’t do that in Colorado at this time of year. I am looking forward to going to Missouri and Colorado during the holidays. It’ll be a nice break from the city and getting to just chill and enjoy being with family and friends in normal surroundings. Don’t get me wrong I love our apartment for the most part but this city is wearing on me (see the drive on the 405 last night for more information).

Tomorrow we’re TiVo’ing the Nascar race on NBC because Marvin & Sally are supposed to be in the stands. Casey’s trying to figure out a way he can watch the football games and still TiVo but it’s not looking like it’s gonna happen. Any suggestions? Then for the Broncos game, we’re gonna have to be on the look out for John & Alison – you better wear your new pink, pea coat to stand out!
