Delayed

I don’t have any idea why I delayed writing this post instead of just incorporating it with the last one. At Brady’s appointment on Thursday, the pediatrician deduced that Brady has reflux (the silent – non spitting up kind – to be exact). All of the symptoms that she’s been exhibiting over the last week fit and so starting Thursday she has been taking a half a tab of Prevacid once a day. It was estimated to take 3-4 days before we started seeing a difference. I think today (being day 3) we started seeing some difference today, however, she hasn’t completely returned to herself yet.

I have to call the office again at the end of next week to let the pediatrician know how things are going, if she’s not doing any better then her dose can be increased to a half tab twice a day. I’m hoping it doesn’t come to that since it’s already a little ordeal to get the Prevacid in her. We have to break the pill in half with a steak knife (since it’s so tough), then either crush it up into a gritty mess and dissolve in a syringe with water and give it to her that way or take the tab and let it dissolve in her cheek. While the Prevacid dissolves fast, it makes us worry about her choking giving it to her that way. Brady’s feeds are pretty involved now – she takes the Prevacid once a day, her vitamins diluted in a bottle of half an ounce of milk once a day, as well as giving her Gripe Water up to six times a day in a bottle. We’re just grateful that her issue is something that’s pretty common, can be treated, is not serious, and she’ll most likely outgrow!
