I had my 6 week follow up appointment at the OB/GYN today. Basically it ended up being her reiterating what was said the day I found out I miscarried and giving me orders for blood work (which I had to request because the midwife didn’t read my chart). Then, I couldn’t get the blood work done in their office because the didn’t have the right tubes and couldn’t freeze my blood. So I went to the lab upstairs from there looking to get it done and I have to fast for 10-12 hours beforehand. So at some point I’ll need to head back over there and get it done. 🙁
The lab will be looking to see if I have any ailments that would cause blood clotting (lupus, factor 5, etc). These clots or possibly micro clots could attribute to my abruption and miscarriage. So if something shows up in my blood work I’ll need to go in and meet with the doctor (the midwife says they won’t have a clue what to do or how to proceed if something is up) and possibly be put on blood thinners or baby aspirin for the duration of my pregnancy. The midwife says it’s a long shot that something will show up and I shouldn’t be concerned. But I am. I want answers and I want this whole waiting period over and done with.
