Proscrastinating Again

I’m procrastinating on finishing my schoolwork again. I don’t see what the big deal is. I sit down to start working on something and I don’t have the will to log on to the school’s site or research stuff. I’ll do *anything* to distract myself from working on it. So far I’ve deleted all of my email, cruised message boards, chatted on IM, gone to news/deals/entertainment sites/blogs, and now am posting. I know I don’t want to work on it this weekend but just don’t feel the pressure yet.

I started thinking about fall semester today and realized that I haven’t applied for FAFSA yet. I don’t know how I missed it this year – maybe it was the lengthy tax process in conjunction with our vacation in Hawaii. I dunno but it’s not done, luckily or not I get loans so it doesn’t really matter as far as getting my place in line for free money but it’d would’ve been one less thing to do now. I already tried to fill it in as a way of avoiding tests/papers again but am waiting on my requested PIN, guess I’m really gonna have to start now…or not.

Don’t you just hate it…

…when you’re sitting at a light and the person in the car next to you gets out of the car to take off their jacket?! Maybe I’m just super talented or something but I’m able to do this IN the car and WHILE driving. Where’s the difficulty in this? People here to random stuff like this all the time. A couple of weeks ago some lady stopped on the left land of a somewhat busy street (not in the turn lane or on the shoulder IN THE LEFT LANE to park her car, get out walk around to her kid who was obviously with slapping distance and not behind her to hit the kid. Multi-tasking is not a hidden talent!

the end of days

If I chose to, I could finish up my classes for the semester this week. I don’t know why I keep procrastinating, I think I like the pressure of deadlines or is it because these are the last steps that will determine my final grade? One final down with 2 more to go, plus a paper, and various revisions (not a big deal) when the instructor finally gets them to me. Ugh back to work.

Every Day is Exactly the Same

Another day another couple hundred dollars….. This whole week has been slow. We finished our pilot and now we are in cleanup phase. Things seem to be going well for the most part. I have been following a problem with backing up our Exchange Storage Groups that I might have figured out but it will have to wait until later this afternoon to test so as not to interrupt other backup jobs currently running.

I brought my Powerbook into work yesterday and began loading up Tiger and other assorted software, and I have to say that I’m really enjoying it now. I had been neglecting my Powerbook for my Dell as of late due to the fact that i was playing World of Warcraft. Well those days are behind me (Finally!). So Tiger runs great, Office 2004 is very nice, and VPC 7 runs like crap (like that is a surprise). I suppose its good to have friends at Microsoft so I get good deals on Microsoft software now, 10-20 bucks for ANYTHING. heh.

Oh if you haven’t heard the new NIN track “Every Day is Exactly the Same” you need to check it out. Also the new Limp album is OK, they took pages right out of the books of Tool and Rage, songs like the “The Truth” could be on a RATM BSides album. So I’m slightly torn as to where to go with this album, I’m not real impressed so far. Worth a listen anyway, now that Wes is back with the band.

Not much else going on right now. Just trying not to slip into a coma.

Wouldn’t you know it

I got all the back home from doing errands and (luckily I was still turning onto our street) remembered I had forgotten black ink cartridges. As I was scanning and attempting to print stuff out last night so it could be mailed today, I find out we’re out of black ink – the most important of all inks. But there’s a Staples 2 blocks away so it wasn’t a total nightmare. I finally took our HD cable box back to Cox because we NEVER watch our HD channels. I think we watched them the first night we had them and not again since then since the TiVo doesn’t record in Hi-Def and since we watch most everything through the TiVo we never bothered changing inputs and going all the way to the 700s to track them down. So instead of just being able to cancel over the phone (which we tried to do 2 months ago) we had to make the trek to their main office. Since it wasn’t hot today and Stoli LOVES rides she kept me company.

I got home to find a note pushed through the door-knocker. I knew it wasn’t a “you don’t pick up your dog’s poop daily (we do it weekly) letter” because everyone in the building got one. Apparently the office has devised a way to get people to clean all the garbage off their balconies and has organized a yard sale for the complex. I really don’t see how this is gonna work since you’re not necessarily getting rid of the clutter on your balcony it’s just being relocated. Oh well, don’t think we’ll be going to THAT.

I’m booked

I booked my reservations for Randi’s graduation…finally. I leave next Friday for the weekend and managed to get last minute student airfare and a rental car (yes, I said a rental car from Enterprise) for cheaper than buying the airfare through a big public site. It’s gonna be a quick trip since we can’t leave Stoli for long and Casey is still going to work. If they say that everything changes when you have a kid I can only imagine because everything has changed since we had a puppy.

Viva Little Republic of Santa Monica

We missed out on rent-control in Santa Monica by 2 months when we moved there. Aw rent control, something we’ve never had. Wouldn’t be nice? Especially with something like this going on: “Michael Grabow is paid by New York landlords to talk tenants into leaving their rent-controlled apartments. Sometimes money (how’s $300,000 sound?) talks the loudest. (By Helayne Seidman For The Washington Post).”

All clear

Well it seems that I have overreacted about my eyes but the doctor told me to come in so better to err on the side of over cautious. I say it again – it’s my EYES. He didn’t see any irritation or problems and my vision is still 20/15 so I didn’t reverse the surgery. I was adventurous today (and had a dead cell without a charger) so I drove to Chevy Chase. Surprisingly it’s only 16 miles away and only took 20 minutes to get there and 30 to get back – in rush hour! So I have the all-clear and don’t have to go back till next Tuesday.
