Warning: Will be a catch up post

It’s occured to me that I’ve posted maybe twice this month. Yeah, I know I suck. So I’m gonna try and play catch up on anything/everything that’s gone on.

I’m still taking my last summer class (principles of interpersonal communication). I was able to get out early today because we had a test. It only took 30 minutes and that’s with me going through the whole thing 3 times. I wanted to make sure I understood everything since the phrasing is very misleading on some of the questions. I think I did pretty well. The last test I took (last Tuesday) was really misleading too and I got a ‘B’ on it and I was SO prepared just the phrasing that messed me up but at least I wasn’t the only one. You’d think that that would prompt the instructor to change the format. I also received the paper that I had to write about communication terms that were represented in the movie Ordinary People (1980) and I got a 92 (maybe a 94, I still need to talk to her about it)! Not bad for the whole 30 minutes that I put into it.

Since I got out of school early I was able to get a lot done today. I went to the post office and walked right up to the counter. The postal clerk guy is a retired army pilot and I get him quite a bit but he never remembers me. It’s so funny cause he’ll tell me I’m so pretty and that he can say that because he’ll never see me again. I always remind him that he says it last time but he always just smiles. What a cute old man! I also went to Hooked on Books (on Maizeland & Academy) to trade in some of the books that I’ve read already or bought at the ARC that I can’t resell. I managed to do pretty good considering that i only spent maybe $3 on whole bag of them and I ended up with $16 in book credit. I picked up Lucky by Alice Sebold and within an hour of listing it, made more money than the price that I had paid for all the books in the bag (so more than $3). That’s the only book I bought, the rest I kept as credit so that I can research the other books that they carry. Some of the books are pretty expensive considering the fact that they are used. The book store is HUGE, there’s only enough room for one person to walk down the isle, even less room than down a library aisle. I’ll bring some more in later this week and see what I can do.

Went to a ‘fabulous’ lunch with Blake today at the Olive Garden. It was so yummy and kept me away from eating brad on a Subway sandwich. 🙂 We had a group of really weird girls sitting at the table next to us that just stared at both of us as they were leaving. Oookay. It was a fun lunch with great company!

After lunch, I stopped off at another used book store (don’t know the name at Austin Bluffs & Montebello). I brought in the leftover books from Hooked on Books and a few others. I only got credit for 2 of the books for a total of $3.50. Well almost all of their books are paperbooks and they have them listed for that amount or more. Not much hope for most of the books that I have. I was also able to get a few dollars from some old geek books that were outdated. At least I got something.

Once I got home I just laid on the couch. I turned off the AC yesterday because it had cooled down like it was gonna rain but didn’t. Then it was kinda cool in the morning and then cooled down again for a little while in the afternoon but was almost unbearable in between. I finished reading The Nanny Diaries. It ended up being funny, apalling, and entertaining. Worthwhile library checkout. I still have quite a few books that I need to finish before the due date. I need to get on the waiting list for Doyle Brunson’s Super System so I can brush up on poker strategy before Vegas! I even managed to take a nap after I was done reading. It’s still a little warm inside the apartment now but ok. I just finished watching Mystic Pizza and am now watching Kalifornia.

Yesterday I went to Best Buy to pick up some new releases and sale DVDs. I bought the following DVDs: Kalifornia, Tomb Raider, Final Destination 2, and then a DVD for a gift for someone (not saying who or what). Did pretty good for all 4 of them, only $46!

My left eye has been red since last Tuesday and just won’t go away. I haven’t wanted to wear a contact in it so that it won’t get anymore irritated. So I finally went to the doctor on Monday to have it looked at. It was awesome I called at 8:30, got an appointment at 11 and was out within 10 minutes. Now that never happens when I go for appointments, especially eye appointments. It seems that the only thing wrong with my eye is that there is minor irritation but no infection (I’m relieved). The doc subscribed me with some type of eyedrop, unfortunately meaning I had to go the pharmacy to get it filled. Then when I go to pick up my drops from Walgreens, they tell me that because of some particular # that was missing, my prescription coverage didn’t cover it. Ugh! So now I have to call and figure out what the number was. It’s always something.

Sunday, I went and saw Bad Boys 2 with my parents. I thought it was pretty good. A very decent action flick that wasn’t too long. I even brought in my own fruit salad (homemade) and iced tea. I’m such a rebel!

Saturday, my mom and I went shopping all day. We went to the mall and they were having crazy sales. The only store I bought anything from was Bath & Body Works. They have some yummy smelling new lotion that’s coconut-lime. It doesn’t sound very good smelling but it’s great. Smells a lot better than the creamy coconut, which smells WAY too sweet. My favorite though is sweet pea (hint for anyone interested in buying me a gift.) 🙂 A lot of the stores have their fall merchandise on display. American Eagle had some cute pants that I really wanted but was more than I wanted to pay. It was pretty cool cause the next store we went into was Old Navy and they had the same exact style for like $15 less. I’ll be back to get those soon. My mom got all kinds of stuff for cheap because of all the great sales. There was a shirt that I wanted to get for Casey but they only had it in small. 🙁 It said ‘keep on truckin’. While Casey thought about Grateful Dead when I told him that, I was thinking of the scene in Old School where Will Ferrell and his wife decide to get divorced and as they are parting ways he tells her to ‘keep on trucking’. It’s fucking hilarious!

Friday was my mom’s birthday so her, Jim, and I went out for dinner. We all met at Mom’s work and got to see her new office. We were planning on going to Coozan’s (even though Casey and I called last year and they were closed but they kept the sign up) because we thought they were still open, well me get there and if you look in the window laying on one of the tables is a ‘for rent’ sign and on another window there’s a notice saying that there is no electric, plumbing, or business permit for the building. What a waste of a trip! Mom decided on ‘On the Border’ instead. Well we should have learned from the last time that we were there that the food is only palatable, nothing special. My food was awful, I should have just eaten the free chips and salsa. While we were out we also went to Audio Visionaries and Soundtrack because my parents are getting a new tv and speakers for their bedroom. It doesn’t look like the new Mittsubishi tvs will be available until September. Right now, it looks liek they’ll be getting the 65″ but we also looked at the 73 or 75 (however big it is). That’s about all that happened on Friday.

Thursday, Marla and I went to Best Buy and the Citadel. Marla was picking up a car stereo and getting it installed before her roadtrip to Cali on Friday. Casey and I got a free reward zone card (f$9.99 value. I guess we got it for free because we spend so much money there.) and Marla let me get her points. It’s like 100 points per dollar spent, then after 12,500 points you get a $5 gift card. Not a great deal but since we spend money at Best Buy anyways and the card was free not a bad deal. While the stereo was being installed we went to the mall. The mall was having great sales on Thursday too. I got a pair of jeans and a cami at Express for $17 and a coupon for 15% off on a future purchase. At Old Navy I got a pair of capris, pair of jeans, and tank top for $25. I rule! I realized as I was trying on clothes than I am now a size 4!!!!! I am so excited that my exercise and good eating habits is paying off!!!!!

I got an e-mail from Marla on Sunday saying that she was going to a taping of the Tonight Show. The epsiode that she was going to be at had guest Angelina Jolie! I received another e-mail from her today saying that she would be in another segment again sometime later this week in a segment called something like ‘questions to ask the fruitcake lady’. But no one knows when it will air, but if you see it, she’s a tall blonde. I’m so jealous she got to go to Cali! She should be back tomorrow sometime. I can’t wait to hear about it and see pictures!

I talked to John for a little while tonight. Katie will now almost definitley be going to Las Vegas with us. Airfare is crazy expensive for him to fly out of Panama City so he may fly out of Orlando or Atlanta to say some cash. They had some awesome deals on America West vacations but they are based on double occupancy and Katie flying US Air. We’re hoping we can find a really great hotel on the Strip somewhere for a reasonable price. John seems to be doing really great with everything this year!

Um, let’s see. I picked up my parking pass for fall semester yesterday. It was crazy expensive, like $130 and there’s not guarantee that you can even get a parking space because they sell 2 passes for every 1 space. I don’t know if I already wrote about this or not but for fall semester I’m registered for 15 credits, 18 including a waitlisted class and I’m going to be able add one more when the semester actually starts. So if I get the waitlisted class then I’ll need to drop 1 of the other classes because 18 is the most you can take without special approval. The classes I’m taking are: beginning tv production (waitlisted, requirement), reasearch methods (marketing reaseach, requirement), writing for the media, directed studio performance, nonverbal communication, creative communication, and intermediate tv production. Most of them sound fun and I’m excited to start the semester and make some progress even though it is gonna be a busy and hectic semester. Our Las Vegas trip should break things up a little. Vegas baby only 11 weeks away!!! Vegas baby, Vegas!

Post Post Post!!!

Yawn

I have been so lazy latley, and neglecting the site. I have been quite busy latley with work and homework and crap like that. I’m still in DC working (if you can call it that) and trying to keep from overheating. The damn air conditioner in my room is a piece of crap. I have the thermostat set at 45 and its still hot in here. Even Justin says its hot, but its kinda late to switch rooms now since I have been in here for over a week now.

I’m still frustrated from the amount of homework that I have to do, my History teacher has assigned so many writing assignments, and since I’m a week behind I will have a very hard time catching back up. Maybe if I can get some done at work tomorrow and then Friday I can take the rest of the weekend to relax.

I’m fairly sure Justin and I are going back to his place in Delaware again this weekend to get out of this town. Perhaps go down to the beach again and drink some beers, it will be a much welcome change from the grind that we have gotten ourselves into here in DC. Everyday we get up and go to work, eat a crappy lunch, then come back to the hotel to steal broadband. Then we go and get either Subway or pizza for dinner then come back here and steal more broadband until its time for bed. We have to be the two most boreing people ever. However we do kick ass at our jobs, but that doesn’t make you fun, just more pathetic really.

I still haven’t recieved my paycheck from the work that I did with Checks Unlimited a few weeks ago. I’m waiting on that money to buy my Raptor drives and Kelly’s Mountain Bike. I will have to put in a call tomorrow and get that crap sorted out. The goon I was working with at CU was a real space-case and he probably never faxed in my timecards. Its a good thing I thought this might happen and made copies of them. Also it looks like we might pinch some overtime out for the rest of the time we are here.

Justin and I once again found a free MCSE test on Slickdeals.net, although this time it is on Windows 2003 Active Directory Design, something we know exactly dick about. But it was a free test, so if we fail, no big deal. I did buy a 70-215 Windows 2000 Server book to study because I will take that one as soon as I get some free time. I really need to get on my certs and get at least my MCSA before this job is over so maybe I can find some work in the Springs. I need three more tests to complete my MCSA or 4 more if I decide to get my A+ and include that in my curriculum. Ummmmm.

OK its time to go to bed, I think we are going to try and get to work about 15 min. early so we can grab some breakfast before we get down to cleaning up other peoples mistakes. Good night all, sleep tight.

Mmmmmm Scrapple!!

Justin and I are just sitting here looking at our laptops, I was checking my email and Justin was cleaning out his computer and trying to free up some space.

He cooked me Scrapple this morning for breakfast, apparently it is corn meal and pork fat and other assorted products. MMmmmmm. It actually was quite good, it would be even better with pancakes and some maple syrup.

I think we are going to head to the Old Navy Outlet sometime today so I can score a couple of pairs of pants to wear, all I brought to DC was jeans and the head of our team wants us to be respectable looking. BLEH

Really not much else going on besides that. We did go and see Bad Boys II yesterday, it was quite enjoyable, but not as good as the first one. Isn’t that always the case?

OK enough for now.

Greetings from our nations Capital!

I love the advent wireless networking, someone near my room has a 802.11 network and I managed to get connected to it, although at a low speed. But its free High Speed Access and that is all that matters.

Neither Justin or I know what time we have to be ready to leave for the site tomorrow morning, so we are going to “wing” it.

I’m straving right now since I didn’t have enough time to grab a bit while I was in St. Louis. I called my Dad while I was in St. Lou and he is determined to purchase a new Jetta. Apparently the Diesel Jettas get 49 miles to the gallon, and he needs something with good fuel effeciency.

This hotel that we are in SUCKS, none of the light switches work and its kind of in a crappy neighborhood. What chaps my ass even worse is the fact that there is a Marriott right across the street. I could be over there for 10 days earning mad Points so Kelly and I can get a cheap cruise on of these days.

Hopefully Justin and I can get some sightseeing in tomorrow I want to get some good pics taken. And I told my dad I would go and try to see the Vietnam Memorial. This place is so humid its like living in my arm-pit, as soon as I walked out of the airport I was assaulted by the humidity, BLEH. Anyway

OK that is enough for tonight, time to get to bed, my wake up call is at 7:45 in the morning.

First post in (apparently) 5 days…

Friday, Casey and I both had the day off. Casey was supposed to be going to D.C. and leaving today to be there for work for the next 2 weeks. But you know how his job is, an hour after they made the reservations and sent out itineraries they cancelled the trip. Oh well, just more time for him to sit on his ass and collect a paycheck. Friday night, Dave, Robyn, and Rebekah came over for dinner and a movie. We had chicken parmesean, garlic mozzarella bread, and wine (red and white). While waiting for dinner we were watching the World Poker Tournament so decided to carry the theme over to the movie we watched, Rounders. Rebekah wasn’t feeling very well and was a little fussy (still cute though) so they left after the movie.

Saturday we celebrate Mom & Marvin’s birthday at Guiseppe’s (restaurant in a refurbished boxcar next to the train tracks). We celebrated Mom’s birthday early because Casey never knows when he’ll be called to work. Remember Dallas in April. It’s kinda funny that my Mom chose Guissepe’s to eat at like a month ago, because one of my newest friends, Marla, that I take classes with at UCCS works there. She was nice enough to make reservations for us in her section. We even got our own little room cause we’re such a loud group. We had a good view of a couple making out on the car. This was hilarious stuff, Grandma and I were leaning across the table so we could see out the window (there was a wall in our way). This couple was almost definitely having an affair. No one kisses like this. First, they started kissing and the guy pinned the woman against the car, then he started hanging on to the roof rack (station wagon) to keep his balance. Then he started to kiss her neck as she was grabbing his ass and trying to make her way into his pants pockets. There was a brief pause and she gets into the car. Well before you know it, all you can see of him is one foot. Now, I wonder what he was doing, if you could only see one foot. After another 5 minutes or so they finally parted and she took off in her station wagon and he walked across the street to his car. Marla was the best server EVER. She stood there and talked to us for a long time and brought us pitchers of everything everyone was drinking. What more could you ask for? We took some good pictures on Mom’s camera that I’ll try and post soon.

After lunch, Casey and I went to some bicycle shop to look at bikes for me. He’s getting an almost brand new one from Dave. The guy told me the size of bike that I need and had me sit on it to make sure, but they are all out of my size so we’ll still have to wait. We’re hoping that Dave will be able to go with us pretty soon so we can get a decent bike (mountain/road). I could ride to school but the shitty thing is that I heard you have to pay for a parking pass for that too. Ugh. UCCS is raping me!

This morning we met my parents at the theater to see Pirates of the Caribbean. I didn’t have high expectations or really want to see it in the first place so I was pleasantly surprised. It was a pretty good movie, however some of the dialogue was cheesy or just ridiculous.

Since we got out of the movies around 2, we’ve been sitting here with the fan directly in front of us. Casey’s been working on his school work and I’ve been looking through alternate classes I could take in the fall and planning out the rest of my courses till I graduate (I hope in fall 2004). We’re getting ready to head to my parent’s house and the solace of air conditioning, for dinner and a movie.

Oh Back to work.

Well guess what I finally got news that I’m going back to work. So I’m going to DC on Monday, or at least I think I am. Some of you may remember them cancelling this trip a few weeks ago.

So now I have my new part time job, and I’m gonna have to tell them that Friday will be my last day. But I think I made enough money to score my new Raptor drives, and that is all I was wanting from this gig. .

My damn history teacher has a real thing for homework this week, I have a pantload of stuff to do. And its going to be even crazier when I’m in DC and trying to do homework while not working real hours. BLEH.

Kelly went and picked up Phone Booth, and The Lost Boys today as they were both on sale this week. We are watching The Lost Boys now, but I’m thinking about going to play some Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne.

Not much else going on besides that, things have been fairly dull latley. I have been hanging out in the #OCD channel on IRC, its where I have been getting some new comics. I’m mostly trying to get the Lucifer series since James got me hooked on it, and I have only read up through issue #14 and they are now up to #38 or #39. Anyway….OK that is all I know.

Happy belated 4th of July

I haven’t posted in AWHILE so I figured I’d follow Justin’s lead and go ahead and post. Now while I’m on the subject of Justin, I should mention that I thought Daredevil was a great movie. I thought the special effects were pretty cool and the story was very entertaining. Justin, you are on movie review/reccomendation probation. 😉

I woke up about 30 minutes ago. It was just getting way too hot in the bedroom for me to sleep even with the fan blowing directly on me. Casey just called to say he’s on his way home from playing frisbee golf and that I NEED to turn the air on. We had it on all day yesterday even though we weren’t here but it’s probably a good thing. About 4 pm it was over a 100 degrees, at least there was no humidity. Casey grilled steaks for everyone and Mom made the side dishes. Then after watching The Recruit, Casey and I took Tasha with us to Coldstone to get some ice cream and pick up tickets for a showing of T-3 tomorrow. While we were eating our ice cream we waited for the fireworks to start. The fireworks didn’t last very long and beause of hills and stuff in front of us, we could only see part of the show from Memorial Park. Maybe we need to find a new vantage point for next year. I think they should do fireworks on the 4th from Pikes Peak and not just do the New Year’s ones up there. That way everyone could see them. All in all, we had a great day! I’m talking to Nicky on IM right now and their family and Alexis’ had a joint BBQ and they also had a great time watching fireworks. Sounds like they had yummy food to! 😉 Maybe we can join them next year!

Happy belated 4th to everyone! Hope you all had a great time!

Who RULEZ…..?

I RULE!

I just finished work for the day. So now I’m sitting in my “office” on the boss’s computer. I haven’t seen him all day long, I don’t think he is even here. But I finished my 9 computers in pretty good time, I finally got a system worked out that works pretty well when only one person is doing EVERYTHING. Maybe I will sit here a little longer and bill some more hours…….&ltsnicker&gt.

Kelly and I finally went a picked up a new printer last night, and while we were at Best Buy we figured that we should get a scanner while we were there. So we picked up the Canon i850 photo printer, because I vow to never buy another Epson printer for as long as I live. I can’t remember the model number of the scanner (that isn’t like me) but it was a Canon also, and its great, no external power supply, its all powered through the USB port. I do have to get a longer cable for it though, because it just isn’t long enough to reach my computer without placing my computer at an akward angle. So now I don’t have to fax stuff anymore, I can just scan it in and make a quick PDF file out of it, and email it. IT RULEZ.

I’m still trying to play catch up for last weeks homework, but I will get the last two papers that I have to write done tonight, then I can start working on THIS WEEKS homework…. BLEH.

I bought Warcraft III: The Frozen Throne yesterday, but alas I have not loaded it yet. I just haven’t had enough time, and that will probably be the case tonight also. But hopefully I can play tomorrow night, since its Thrusday and everyone gathers in “The Dark Corner” on Battle Net for some PvP. And Blizzard relased a new patch the other day, but once again I have not had a chance to play around with it.

OK time to go home I guess, I think I will stop billing at 2:30 that is 5.5 hours for today, since I have yet to take a lunch. At this rate I will never score my Raptor drives.

Wow slow down there…..

Nothing really going on today. I’m trying to play catch up on my homework. I tried doing some yesterday but I have been depriving myself of sleep all week so yesterday I was all jittery and couldn’t focus on a damn thing. So put ALL of my homework off until today. So of coure I have about 3 papers I have to write, as well as some threaded discussion questions, and two tests. Why do I put myself into this kind of pain?

It looks like I will have to go back to work again tomorrow. BLEH. If I can stick it out for two more weeks I will be happy. Then I can score a three week paycheck, buy my Raptor drives, and be in computer nirvana. I just can’t describe in words how I feel about this job. They aren’t paying me enough to do all this work BY MYSELF, but I wil stick it out, cause the extra money is nice.

I sold the copy of Grand Theft Auto 3 that I bought at the BX the other day for 6 dollars on Amazon for 15, more the doubling my money. W00t. Also yesterday I was looking to score a 512MB PC2100 SO-DIMM for Kelly’s Powerbook. That memory is super expensive at the Apple Store, they want 200 bones for it. I did find it at Newegg.Com for 85 dollars, but they were out of stock. So I set up a little auto noticy thing that they have so I can order it as soon as its in, I really think that will help the sluggish feel that the Powerbook has right now with only 256MB of RAM.

Once again, I’m putting off doing homework, by typing this…. GRRRRR. OK I’m really going to try and get some work done now. REALLY!

Work Sux!

Well I got a call the other day from Jim, and he told me one of the guys that we used to work with on Peterson, had a line of a part-time job that I might want, so I thought what the hell and gave the guy a call. So now I’m working part time at Checks Unlimited on Union, INSTALLING COMPUTERS. As if I don’t get enough of installing computers with my other job. BLEH. But at least it is some extra cash, maybe now I can pay off the Powerbook, or get a pair of Raptor drives for my computer.

I have been slacking off on posting, as well as maintaining the site. This User Login thing is becoming a real pain in the ass.

This thing is driving me crazy. I promise this weekend if I’m not doing homework I will get this thing fixed.

I have a pantload of documents that I have to fax to the company that has hired me for this new job, I can’t decided if I want to do it now, or wait until after work to do them. My POS printer is spazzing out on me, and not letting me print some of the documents that I need, I think it may be the type of paper we got. The paper is laserJet Paper, and we have it in an InkJet, and its to thin for our printer, so it keeps erroring out saying “PC LOAD LETTER” (LOL not really), more of a “PAPER LOADED INCORECTLY” error. So maybe I will go to Staples and get some more paper later when I get off work.

I also have to find time to go take a piss test for this gig, I should probably call about that this morning so I can go take it tomorrow during lunch or something, assuming that there is a location on the north end of town that I can go to.

OK I guess its time to go to WORK now, time to gather my things up and head on up the street, those Raptor drives are callin my name.
