Hmmm

I’m sitting here trying to figure out what I used to post about before every post was about Brady. I don’t even remember. Even when I wasn’t working, I had something to post about (when I did post). I’m at a loss. I ended up renewing our URL for another year so hopefully my recent flurry of posting (comparatively) will continue.

We’ve seen a ton of AT&T trucks in our neighborhood over the last month or so. Casey thinks they’re working to make Uverse available which would be my guess as well. I’ve checked once a week or so to see if it’s available for us yet and it still isn’t.

This weekend Casey and I need to get to work on our fall garden. I checked Square Foot Gardening out from the library so hopefully with that information and our trial-and-error knowledge from spring, we’ll have a thriving, bountiful garden!

Schedule

Well it seems that Brady is getting back into more of a routine with her schedule again. After several nights of me sleeping with her on her floor and her screaming again as soon as I left, we seem to be in a routine. She’s sleeping through the night again! She’s also waking up a little later and staying up a little later which works out better for our schedule too! Now Brady wakes up around 8, goes down for a nap between 12 and 1 and sleeps for 2-3 hours, then goes to bed at 8. Now Casey gets to sleep in a little longer on weekday mornings, spend a little time with her before going to work, and see her and give her a bath when he gets home.

The weather here is doing crazy things. After hearing and expecting the temps to stay hot through October, they have cooled to mid-upper 80s during the day and 60s at night. We actually turned the air off one day earlier this week and have had to turn the heat on upstairs at night so Brady doesn’t freeze.

Apparently, Brady isn’t as big of a couch potato as we thought she was. I checked three DVDs out from the library after story time yesterday and she won’t watch any of them. I got It’s the Great Pumpkin Charlie Brown, Dora’s Halloween, and Jonah: a Veggie Tales movie. She’s really into pumpkins right now and I thought that’d be enough to keep her interest, but it hasn’t been. But Sesame Street’s new season just started and we’ve had three days in a row of new episodes so good for Brady and good for Casey and I!

New shows

Dropping

  • Shit My Dad Says
  • Lone Star

Still Haven’t Watched:

  • The Event
  • My Generation

Undecided:

  • Outsourced (most likely dropping)

I saw some new zombie show that’s going to be on AMC.  Casey’s gonna see if he can’t download it as he’s interested as well.  Wow!  We’re couch potatoes, eh?

Sleeping

Brady’s sleep schedule is still really out of whack.  It’s been a week now.  Saturday morning she woke up the first time screaming around 12:30 and would not stop.  I went up about 30 minutes later when it was apparent she wouldn’t self soothe and brought her to bed with us.  I kept her in bed for 30 minutes and she still wasn’t going to sleep.  She wanted to say hi and roll around and play.  I put her back to bed on her own for an hour and she fell back asleep and woke up screaming an hour later.  This time I went up there with my pillow and laid on her floor with her.  She still wanted to talk and kept saying “sa” (we think that’s her of saying what’s that because she asks over and over until we answer and then will move on) or “li” (light on her monitor) and would randomly give me kisses.  I laid up there for an hour with her before going back to bed.  She fell asleep for a little while longer (I can’t even remember what time at this point) and screamed again but went back to sleep and slept til almost 9.  Ugh.  Then she took a nap from 1-4 and didn’t go back to bed until after 8.  She *did* sleep in until 8:30 today so that was nice.  I can deal with a little later bedtime for her if it means she wakes up a little later in the morning.  But the waking up in the middle of the night completely awake and ready to go has to stop!  Or more like, I really hope it will.  She’s too old for this and has been sleeping through the night for way too long to just start this up again.  At the risk of getting bitten, I haven’t checked to see if her teeth are through or more are coming through but need to try and remember to give her some sort of justification for this crazy schedule.

Just got home

Just got home from San Antonio. We drove down earlier this afternoon to attend Emma’s 8th birthday party. Brady took less than an hour nap, didn’t sleep in the car on the way down, and was not in the best of moods. It could have been worse and she actually did pretty well but I imagine it would have gone even better if she had rested prior. It was supposed to be a pool party but it started raining on our way down and was coming down pretty heavily in places along the way and still steadily by the time we arrived so it ended up being inside – good thing they have a big house. Brady enjoyed eating cake, strawberries, and pizza, playing with balloons, pointing between a pumpkin (her new obsession) and a pineapple, climbing up the stairs, and fuzzy bean bags. We ended up leaving after Emma opened her presents since Brady was getting restless and entering the crazy tired category. We made it home around 9:30 and now are just relaxing and drinking a beer before we call it a night.

Plan for tomorrow – football! Casey and I are both in a fantasy football league so it’s definitely made watching football that much more fun. I like football but prefer to watch games where I like the team. Last Sunday since I had players in almost all of the games that were on, that’s all we did all day long is watch football. It’s kind of funny because I’m getting way more into my Fantasy Football team than Casey is into his. After one week, I’m in second place of 12 teams. Good start, but 15 weeks still to go.

Not terrible

Well considering I haven’t posted in what seems like forever again (hey, maybe that new habit of posting was starting to form), I haven’t done too terrible for the month of September.  Five posts before this one and half the month left to play catch up.  I still haven’t renewed our site but have it in the budget for next week so it’ll get done I promise.

We definitely took advantage of my parents visit this time and besides getting our driver’s licenses (finally), we also were able to squeeze in a date night, and I was able to squeeze in a hair appointment!  We had our date night at Zinger’s which was just ok.  We had a great time getting out together and watching the NFL kickoff and while the service was good, the food was mediocre.  But we did get out and tried something new so that’s what matters.

Brady and I went back to the library for story time yesterday.  It was definitely more successful than our last visit and I’m glad we went back.  We showed up right at 10:30 and were able to sit down and grab a few books before it started.  I don’t know if she was more comfortable, or her teeth were bothering her less, or she had more sleep or what but Brady did much better.  No crying or fits at all.  She still wouldn’t talk when spoken too and was not down for participating in the songs or movements associated with them.  And she didn’t listen to the story like the other kids, but she did sit quietly and pull lots of books off the shelves and pile them around herself while “reading”.  The librarian thought it was so cute, she asked permission to take a picture of her with all the books.  While Brady didn’t cooperate by smiling (I told them she was painfully shy, more shy than me if that’s possible), she at least looked at the camera.  I’m wondering if she’s going to pop up on the library’s website or newsletter!

Picture fail

My hope of getting another family picture of the three of us ended up a failure.  I barely took any pics while my parents were here.  The pics I do have, my mom took the majority of.  She still has a few on her camera that I didn’t get off but I know there’s not a whole lot on there.  I don’t know why it never occurs to me – I need to reinforce it or something – pictures, pictures, pictures!
