This thing is driving me insane.

Well I have explored every option that I had available to try and get this user security thing worked out, even going as far as removing the image, which in turn broke the new user registration system. What a POS. So I have backed up the DB and perhaps I will load Nuke 6.7 the crappy part is that I will have to reload all the Galleries and stuff like that, I don’t know if just doing the upgrade to Nuke 6.7 will work. I have a very heavily modded Nuke 6.5 setup. Hmmmmmm.

You will never guess who called me yesterday. DeJo!! He said that he had a dream about CO and then he gave me a call. Apparently he is doing good, and still working for the radio station doing traffic (not car traffic, ad traffic), he is supposed to send me his email address, so anyone looking to send him some hot nekked pics let me know and I will pass it on to you once I get it.

Kelly and I went to the Commisary yesterday instead of the gym. I have been sore all week and I only went to the gym twice. I suck. But as of this morning I did only way 212. I RULE. We still haven’t seen the Hulk yet and according to Blake, its a real snore. LOL.

We are going over to Kelly’s folks house this evening, and I’m going to make some chicken friend steak (special thanks to Kevin for giving me a craving for it) for dinner. Mmmmmmmm. And we will probably watch Tears of the Sun too, since that is the last of our movies that we have not watched yet. We did pick up Narc at Target yesterday, so we may take that over also.

Not much else going on today, I wonder if I should do the web update to Nuke 6.7, I’m scared that it is going to mess stuff up more then it already is. hmmmmm to much to think about right now.

Back to School

Like Casey said, I started my first class at UCCS on Monday. The title of the class is Mass Media/Mass Culture. It’s a pretty interesting class so far, although a majority of the class (myself included) fell asleep during the documentary today. My instructor is from California and went to UCLA to film school. He has worked for Capitol Records, Paramount Studios, CBS, and various other companies, most notably Deep Space Nine. He offered to show us any props or scripts that he had from the show in his office. The class ends next Friday. The only things I have to do are: show up, write a six page research paper on a media topic of our interest, and take the final. It’s keeping my days pretty busy.

John has booked his hotel room for Vegas. Now all of the family that has shown interest are booked! Anyone else who is coming needs to book soon cause the rates are going up and it’s gonna be a lot of fun!

We just finished watching About Schmidt which was actually pretty good. Yesterday we rented Just Married (decent), Dude, Where’s My Car? (funny at times), About Schmidt, and Tears of the Sun (haven’t watched yet). Just Married wasn’t “just terrible” like I had heard BUT it was only OK. I wanted so much to like it more because of who was in it (Ashton & Brittany). I guess the only thing we’ll need to buy from Best Buy before the week is up is Narc. Our DVD purchasing has slowed for the most part. That’s all for now…

Boring!!!!

Not much going on latley. Kelly started skool at UCCS on Monday, she has class every day for 4 hours until next Friday. I’m sorry I haven’t been updating much, I have been busy with skool work myself and playing with my computer.

I went out to Dallas’s yesterday afternoon to drop off some CDs and a movie. He let me borrow his Vantec Tornado to put on my Thermalright heatsink to test it out. This damn fan is the loudest thing in the world. I had it on my computer for about an hour or so. It did drop my temp by about 7-10 degrees while idle, so being the dumbass that I am, I decided to overclock it. So I bumped the clock multiplier on the processor up to 12.5, thus making it boot as an XP2800+ or at 2088MHz. For a stability test I ran 3DMark03 and made it all the way to the last test, and then my computer rebooted. I didn’t think it was getting that hot, but I couldn’t monitor the themp while the test was running. I’m thinking about trying to sell my Thermalright SK-7 on ebay and getting a beefier heatsink.

I have been trying to find the email that someone sent me with the clip of Snoop working at Burger King, from the upcoming “Doggie Fizzle Televizzle” on MTV, it is the funniest thing.

Kelly and I went and rented Dude Where’s my Car, Just Married, About Schmidt, and Tears of the Sun, I think I may have seen Dude Where’s My Car, but I don’t remember.

I really need to get started on my papers for skool tomorrow, I was slacking off today, and only did some reading for my History class. Something about the Salem Witch Trials, I don’t really remember. Bleh.

I have no idea what the deal is with my damn SPAM filter in Mozilla Mail. I keep getting SPAM in my damn Inbox. It isn’t working very well anymore, maybe I need to upgrade to 1.4b or whatever it is. I wish they made a good freeware filter for Outlook Express, but I don’t know if I can re-import all my mail back into OE. I don’t know what to do, this SPAM is driving me crazy.

OK time to watch a movie.

Work?

This is just typical. I got a call and numerous emails this morning informing me that I won’t be going to DC next week. These people can never get their crap together long enough to get anything done. Now I’m not sad about not going, I just wish that they were capable of making some real progress and quit jerking us around like they have been doing. Now I am anxious to get out there and learn some new things, so maybe I can fake my way through another MCSA/MCSE test. I was pondering this morning about taking my 70-215 Windows 2000 Server test, and if I passed it leaving me with only two more tests to complete my MCSA. And if I take test that count for both SA/SE then I will only have to take 3 or 4 more tests after I get my MCSA to complete my MCSE. Both of which mean dick in the business world now but ya never know.

I have already writeen one essay in my History class so far today, and I’m going to try and write at least two more today. It is a real effort for me to write them. I have horrible grammer, and spelling skills, which I am sure most of you are aware of. 🙂
But I’m trying my best here. I’m just so lazy. Maybe I will take a break and play some Warcraft in between essays. I’m probably not going to the gym today so I can finish writing them. Also I ended up getting burnt yesterday tanning. I tried to go for 20 minutes, and perhaps that was a little to long, but I will try it again tomorrow when the burn fades out. I have to try and get dark like Blake.

I downloaded about 20 minutes of Half Life 2 game footage yesterday. That game just looks incredible, I’m sure I will have to upgrade my video card though to play it, since my card chokes on 3DMark2003 Game 4 demo. I think I get about 8-10 frames per second on that. Bleh. Maybe I will be able to score a Geforce FX 5900 Ultra before to long (in my dreams!).

I was thinking about loading Ghost up on my laptop and my gaming rig and making some images of my boot drives for fast reloads. My gaming rig has been very stable thus far and I would like to keep it that way.

Not much else going on right now, maybe its time for a game of Warcraft, then back to the History assignments. 🙁

I’m such a slacker

Well I guess my good fortune has finally run out, I recieved in my inbox last night an itenerary to go to DC this Sunday for two weeks. Looks like I will be a part of the email migration for the JEH. Yawn, I can tell this is gonna suck already.

“Ummm how do I get into my address book?”

“Ummm I emptyed my Deleted Items, but I need them back, how do I do that?”

Oh well I guess I couldn’t just skate along and draw a check any longer. And it will work out too, becuase Sunday is the last day of the pay period but also a new week, so I can score some OT on this check, and then it sounds like we will be working some long hours while we are in DC, so maybe I can score some more OT there.

Justin is going to drive to DC from his abode, so we will have a automobile to get around in if we have to, otherwise just take the Metro everywhere. I would really like to go to the Smitsonian while I am there. I have never been to DC but have always wanted to go, not to mention JEH is only like 7 blocks from the White House, so I can go and snap some pictures of it, that is if we don’t get stabbed on the way. LOL

I really need to get a jump on my skool work, but I am so damn lazy it isn’t funny. I have like 3 papers I have to write just for my history class. I managed to get partially caught up in my geography class yesterday so that is a plus. But I still don’t have the proper book for my History class. But it should be here soon…. I hope.

I played some Tower Defense maps last night in Warcraft 3 and did fairly well in them, after I learned my lesson a couple of times. But it is hard playing with 4 people, and three of them are newbies. So I think the highest level we ever made it to was 10, when the monsters just blew right by us like we weren’t there. But it was fun none the less.

OK time to find something to eat, I’m starving.

Watchin’ a Movie

I’m sittin’ here on the couch watching my second movie of the night. I’ve watched Erin Brockovich and now Rounders. I was reading online on the Amazon sellers’ forum that the book Doyle Brunson’s Super System is sold out EVERYWHERE and people are making a TON of money on it. The guy that posted this found copies at the Borders near him for $30 and then resold them for $149.99. Nice! I called all around to the bookstores and couldn’t find it. I even contacted the publisher and nothing. Matt Damon actually mentions Doyle Brunson and takes his money out of his Doyle Brunson’s Super System at the beginning of the movie.

Casey and I went to one yard sale today. However, this guy was NOT selling stuff at yard sale prices. His DVDs were $10 each and CDs were $5 each. Damn! Can’t make any money at those prices. Apparently he sells at the Flea Market so he knows what they can go for so he’s making the max possible without selling online. The only good thing this guy had was Pee Wee’s Playhouse the box set. He was selling it for $20 and it can be resold for $35-70 depending on which set he had. I don’t remember. We might end up going back tomorrow.

Randi called today while we were driving around. They all made it home ok and are now in the process of moving to their new place. They are selling their house and moving into an apartment while they finish up school. Randi is seriously thinking about doing photography instead of nursing but hasn’t decided yet. She’s gonna give it the summer. I’m really happy for them! I’ll get to talk to her again next week when they get their new phone hooked up.

I stopped by UCCS today to take care of the rest of my loan paperwork. The sad thing about filling out the paperwork was they never once asked for any ID or anything to verify I was who I said I was. Anyone can go in there and take out a loan in someon else’s name. That’s kinda scary. My mom says that’s the difference between a private university and a public one. Maybe she’s right but I don’t want to spend the extra money on a private school. I managed to get things taken care of while I was there. When I got home I was able to register for my summer classes. I’m taking 2 this summer both communications classes. I was really surprised when I called up the bookstore and the lady gave me the ISBNs for the books I need over the phone. PPCC never did that because they KNEW you wanted to get them online and of course they’re right. I was able to get both of my books off Amazon for cheap, $40 total. I also had to orded Casey another history book because it’s been 3 weeks and his book still isn’t here. He e-mailed the chick and she’s supposed to refund us the money. I’m anxious to see when that’ll happen. Until his book gets here, Casey is just going to make due with my old book that’s 2 editions older than the one he needs. We went down to PPCC today and I was able to pick up my diploma. It’s in a little protective leather folder thing for all of my hard work. I’m just glad that part of my schooling is over with. Although, I’m sure it’s been easier than what’s ahead.

My mom and I went to the gym alone today. Jim went home early today with a sinus headache and Casey went out to Dallas’ before they were gonna start gaming. He’s still out there playing right now and called to say he was having a good time. We rode the bike for 30 minutes and then worked on legs. This is legs two days in a row for me so I’m pretty sore right now. Good thing we don’t work out on weekends. I’m gonna head to bed as soon as the movie is over.

Been busy

I have been SO busy lately but at least it’s been making money. I’ve been selling a lot of my old cds and books on Amazon and am doing quite well. More than I would make at a part-time job so that’s good. Hopefully I can keep it up. There’s supposed to be some yard sale in Black Forest tomorrow that has over 2,000 book, movies, and cds. I’m anxious to see if there’ll be anything worthwhile. Can’t hurt to stop by.

Tomorrow I have to call and then go down to UCCS if they haven’t received my downpayment loan and loan information yet. They should have, I sent it in a week ago. We’ll see. I also have to go to the south campus of PPCC to pick up my diploma. It is finally ready!

Picked up the last two Care Bears that Target carries yesterday, Wish Bear and Funshine Bear. I only need Tenderheart and Friend Bear but I haven’t seen them at Target. Obviously someone somewhere has because they are going for $10-15 on Ebay. That’s for ANY of the Care Bears. I might just stock up.

Mom and Jim are both gonna go to the gym with us tomorrow. It’s either gonna be biceps day or cardio. We worked legs today. I’m still a little sore from working tri’s and chest yesterday. I need to make time to go tanning during the day because I’m starting to fade and it’s June. Doesn’t feel like it right now though. Today I had on a sweater AND a jacket it was SO cold out, especially for June. I wonder if we broke some kind of record. I went to tan by myself yesterday because poor Blake had more work done on his teeth and Casey was playing a game. It was nice to be able to get in and out there. I volunteered to do a stand up and it was a nice change. I NEED warm weather and a tan. I haven’t even been to the pool yet. 🙁 Maybe soon. That’s all for now.

Get down make….. computers?

Well new computer day two, and I’m still trying to work out all the bugs. I thought I had it working good until we went to Best Buy and picked up The Animatrix, and James Bond Die Another Day. Kelly really had no interest in watching Animatrix so I was going to watch it on my PC. But I couldn’t figure out how to get DMA enabled on my DVD-ROM drive. It used to be you just click on the drive you want DMA enabled on in the device manager, and you were done. But not in XP, and not on an nForce mobo. So I flashed the BIOS hoping that it would help a little bit, and after a brief scare (Awdflash locked up while reprogramming the BIOS… Yikes!) I got the newest BIOS installed. You know what I decided?
FLOPPY DRIVES ARE CRAP!
But you have to have one to flash your BIOS. So now I’m reinstalling XP (for the third time) in hopes that I can get it all right this time around. UPS delivered all my fans at about 2 or 3 this afternoon, and I got them all installed, I even cracked open my power supply and took out the crappy black fan that was in there, and put a crispy new blue LED fan in there. I took some pics of the rig all lit up and it looks great.

OK that is enough for now.

Wow I’m not bleeding.

I don’t know what it is about me, but usually when I put a new computer together I end up slicing and dicing my hands up pretty good. But not this evening.

FedEx delivered most of my parts at about 3:50 today, but I still had to drive out to Falcon to pick up my video card at 5 o’clock, and I was going to swing by Dallas’s house to drop some stuff off that I had downloaded. I ended up being a little early, and had to kill some time. After I picked up the video card, I went over to Dallas’s and geeked around for a little bit, then came home to start assembly.

I raped and pillaged the PVR for fans and hard drives, leaving 160GB in the PVR and putting 110GB in my gaming machine. I put the drive with all my mp3s in it, and a 40GB drive to house Alcohol images and the OS. I have already installed XP on it twice thus far this evening. I somehow got it to go into a BSOD loop, I couldn’t boot into the desktop at all. So I’m trying again, but this time with the current nForce drivers, and Detonator drivers.

Hopefully the rest of my fans will be here tomorrow, so I can get everything in, finish cable management, and seal up the case. It took me probably 20 minutes just to install the 80mm fan onto my heatsink with the Thermalright included clips.

Everything seems to be doing all right now, I guess I will run Windows Update now and let it get busy with the 35 updates that it needs.

I was taking picutes of the hardware installation for those that are curious about the goods (Justin). But I’m too lazy right now to upload them, perhaps tomorrow.

Kelly is going through my class schedules for PPCC online. It looks like my World History class is going to be pretty intense, while my Geography class being fairly easy. Bleh skool. But if I can draw myself away from my gaming computer I don’t think I will have a problem with getting them done in a timely fashion.

OK I’m gonna try and finish getting this computer up and running, at least to the point that I can mount an image with Alcohol and it is running stable. Its pretty cool in the apartment right now, so we will see if it is still stable tomorrow when it starts to warm up. 🙂

Say Whaaaaa?

Now I’m not a big fan of garage sales, but I kind of had a change of heart today. Kelly made a list of some local garage sales for us to visit, when she got out of her oreintation at UCCS.

So the first garage sale we go to is up in Gleneagle, as soon as I walked into the garage I spotted an old Apple IIe on a table, but right next to it was a series one TiVo. I was like “Sweet” but I figured that it would be pricey. NOPE. The gal running it only wanted 10 DOLLARS. SOLD. I also managed to pick up two wireless keyboards and mice, and a standard Dell PS/2 Mouse and Keyboard. All for 20 dollars. Can you believe that crap. For those that don’t know anything about TiVo’s, they are personal video recorders (PVR) that records TV shows for you in a digital format, and stores them on the machine. Well it was a Version 1 TiVo with only a 14 hour capacity (13.8GB), so after we stopped for lunch I went to some TiVo hacking sites, and looked at what was involved with adding a bigger drive or adding a second drive. We it turns out I can do both, with up to 150GB for each drive, making it able to record over 300 hours of TV at basic quality. I RULE.

After that I was all excited, a TiVo and a new computer all in the same week. But I still didn’t have a monitor that I am capable of lugging around with me if I take my new gaming machine somewhere. So I had my eye out for monitors. SOOOO to shorten this up a bit, I bought 2 17 inch monitors today, the cost of everything that we bought today was only 55 dollars.

I was looking on eBay just a few minutes ago to see how much TiVo’s are going for, and for hacked ones with lifetime service they range from about 250 to as much as 400. But I’m not sure if I want to sell the TiVo now, or maybe sell my Radeon 8500DV computer that I was using for my PVR. I’m torn.

I was tracking my computer parts earlier also, and they have arrived in Denver. So I will have to wait until Monday or Tuesday still, to get my goods. But I have to say Newegg.Com is very very prompt, and have great prices, I would highly encourage anyone looking to buy parts to shop there. I have been using them for 3 maybe 4 years now, well every since they opened, I used to shop at MWave, then Newegg opened up, and everyone thought that they were the same company. Bleh.

I had Kevin shave my head today while I was over at his house. Its getting to hot to have my hair as long as it was, and I have to admit it is much cooler now then with that big mop of hair I had. I didn’t realize how much hair I’m actually losing. I really do think I will be bald in 5 more years, or have a Captain Picard thing going on sooner then that 🙁

More Geek Talk

So with the arrival of the TiVo, and my new computer parts (very soon) I finally decided to reorganize the 4 hard drives that I have in my current PVR. The 4 current drives are a 100GB, 40GB, 60GB, and a 80GB. The bad thing was I had 2 seperate MP3 drives, so I have never had all my tunes in one place to make for easier renaming or organizing. So I have been doing the file shuffle all night now. It looks like I’m going to have about 73GB of MP3z total, before I go through them and delete the dupes, and the crap that I will never listen to. Then I have to decide what drive I’m going to throw into my new computer, and which one I will throw into the TiVo. Good think I have 5 decent sized hard drives in the apartment.

Now time for some less geeky talk.

Kelly and I were discussing the new season of Real World that is going to be airing soon. Paris! Now I’m not a big fan of the French by any means, so I was thinking of alternate locations that would be just as much fun. Kelly came up with Real World: Fargo, and I came up with Real World: Anchorage. Now wouldn’t it be great to see all 7 Real Worlders (is that even a word?) locked up in some small cabin in North Dakota or in Alaska during the middle of winter. They are all going crazy, perhaps they have to hunt and kill there own food, no more cushy jobs, and expensive toys, they are roughing it. I would really love to see something like that, maybe throw in some Survivor, where if you get voted off the other remaining roomates eat the one they voted off. I would almost pay to see that, hell I could record it with my TiVo. 🙂
